You know how people say that money doesn’t grow on trees,
well I don’t know if that is true, but I know light bulbs do. The tree that these lights grow on is called the Goobler tree. It is the rarest tree in the world. In fact, there is only one goobler tree and it is located in the Kimmer family’s back yard. In these rare light bulbs are creatures as small as a grain of rice, called snoozilumbers.
Snoozilumbers come in all different shapes, sizes, and colors. It just depends on the lamp they are put into. For example, some the snoozilumbers grow long tails, so when people pull the tails to turn on the lamp they wake up. When snoozilumbers wake up their big eyes shine so bright it lights up the light bulb, their glowing abode. To keep these creatures alive they need food. The only way that these creatures can get food is to nibble on the inside of the brightly lit light bulb.
Well, back to the Kimmer’s in their little house. One morning their dainty, darling, daring daughter Brittany woke up and accidentally stubbed her toe. “OOOOOO, OWWWWWWW,” she screamed. She screamed so loud that all the light bulbs in the neighborhood burst! One of these light bulbs had come from the Goobler tree outside. In the light bulb was a snoozilumber named Bobly. As the light bulb burst he fell to the flat, faded, firm, faraway floor. This specific snoozilumber came from a clap lamp, so it had humongous ears. It was so small that Brittany didn’t even notice that something had fallen from her lamp.
As this sweet, small, spectacular snoozilumber was falling he became very nervous and scared. “Oh no,” screamed Bobly as he was falling. “Where am I, and what is going on,” he said as he hit the floor with a thump that no one could hear. After Bobly wasn’t afraid or nervous anymore, he went out exploring. While he was exploring he bumped into another snoozilumber and her name was Shnugums, Shnugums was a lovely snoozilumber. Shnugums also came from a clap lamp so she had the same characteristics as Bobly. They both had silky soft skin that would run through your fingers if you could touch them. Bobly was a lime green color and Shnugums was a bright orange. In fact, she was so bright that she could blind your eyes.
Snoozilumbers did not know that there were more of them in the world, so when they saw each other it was like a new discovery. It didn’t take them long to figure out that they were the same. After they were done observing each other, they got on with their adventurous journey.
On their journey they ran into a few things, and one of those things was the Kimmer’s gigantic canine Poochie, their wooly mammoth. Shnugums and Bobly did not have that great of a greeting from Poochie. Poochie could of course smell them with his tremendously large nose. So, finally he found them and started sniffing. As Poochie sniffed he started to suck them into his nose without even knowing it. Thankfully, they survived this terrible event by holding onto the tiny strands of carpet. While they were holding on as tight as they possibly could they could smell Poochie’s stenchy dog breath. That was only one of Shnugums and Bobly's wonderful greetings to the outside world.
The vinyl, violent, vicious vacuum cleaner was next. Right when the snoozilumbers were getting tired they heard a roaring sound from behind them, that sounded like a thousand avalanches. They turn around and a large square, tall, sucking object was coming towards them. They screamed so loud that the mother who was vacuuming heard something, but kept on cleaning (remember these are tiny, tiny creatures, so that would be nearly impossible). Bobly and Shnugums ran with all their might to try not to get sucked up by this evil sucking machine. They were on the first floor and there were a lot of obstacles. They had to hop over big books, dirt, and run around toys (just imagine how hard that would be if you were that small). Finally they got to a tall, long object. They climbed up this object, which happened to be a shoe. Through the roaring, they thought they heard it say, “stay here and I will keep you safe.” The sucking object did not come near the shoe.
After a long deadly, depressing, dark day of obstacles and adventures they decided to go to bed. They slept silently through the night. In the morning, the father of the household went to get his work shoes. He picked up the ones with Bobly and Shnugums on them, and they woke up as soon as he picked up the shoes. As he was leaving they heard him say, “well I’m off to make light bulbs, I love you all.” Then it clicked in their little brains that they were going to a light bulb factory.
The car ride was very interesting. Bobly and Shnugums had never been in a car before, but it was pretty bumpy. The shoe kept telling them, “hold on tight, don’t fall off.” So they held on as tight as they could. Bobly and Shnugums had to get in a light bulb and fast, because they were quickly getting weaker and weaker. They didn’t have any food supply so their eyes were fading, which meant they could die! They tried to eat the shoelaces but they tasted like a rotten moldy dog biscuit.
They finally got to the humongous light bulb factory, and right away they were looking for unfinished light bulbs. While they were looking around they noticed that the factory was as gray as slushy street snow. Then, they spotted the light bulbs way up where it was impossible to reach. The light bulbs were whispering, “come and get us.” The shiny silver piece that screws into the lamp was being attached during this process, so they knew they needed to be up there.
The factory had cinder block walls that had little indentations in them. They seemed to be saying, “climb us, climb us.” Bobly and Shnugums decided that they would climb the walls, that seemed as tall as the Empire State building, to get up to the light bulbs. They started climbing when Shnugums slipped and screamed “AHHHHHHHHHHH,” frantically as she was falling, but she caught herself by grabbing onto another ridge in the wall. Shnugums caught up with Bobly and they reached the conveyor belt. They then realized that they now had to jump, so Shnugums jumped and made it safely across, but when Bobly jumped he almost didn’t make it. He barely grabbed onto the conveyor belt, which pulled him up to safety.
They finally reached a light bulb and slid right on in. Then a few minutes later they got screwed into their new home, or shall I say light bulb. They were brought home by a family that lived right next door to the Kimmers and their last name was the Stuarts. Oh yea, I almost forgot to tell you that Bobly and Shnugums fell in love and had two baby snoozilumbers, a boy and a girl. Their names were Wooblu and Magnie.
The End
