A Cat's Tale Chapter 6

"Liza and Mary's parents?"-of course in catspeak- "Ahhh," said the elevator," The Millers. Bright folks... Bright folks... Hoohaahee!" As they plummeted down, down, down, Arissa started to sweat. We must be near the center of the Earth, she thought. Finally the doors opened and Arissa saw a very baked and barren place. In the distance she saw 2 figures, thinner than Liza. She leaped out the door. Oh no! The doors started to close! Arissa thought fast and threw a rock at the elevator doors. It got lodged between the doors. Perfect shot! It should hold for awhile, Arissa thought.

She neared the figures and saw that the father looked like Mary and the mother looked like Liza. Arissa handed them the small purse. First they ate all the food very greedily. They hadn't eaten real food in 2 years. Then they looked at the contents of the bag. First they looked at the photo of their house. "What a disaster!" Mrs. Miller said. Then they saw the drawring of the girls. Mary's friend Sharyn had drawn it. "How thin and sad they look!" Mr. Miller said while Mrs. Miller wept. "Mewmewmewmewmew!" Arissa said. The elevator was crunching the rock. They all ran and just made it. They all sighed with relief and told the elevator their destination, which was home. When they were at their front door, they rapped the knocker...
