Jason a hero
I'm going to tell you about my school trip to the beach which led me and my best friend Billy into a jewel hunt and… Oops, I'm not going to tell you any more so just read on.
"It's just another dumb trip to the beach", I said to Billy on the coach. "Yeah, they act like we're in year 2 not year 6", Billy said glumly.
"Got to find a shell or fossil then draw it and put loads of details on the drawn one", I said huffing.
When we got there the teacher asked us to find a partner or threesome and explore the beach
I went with Billy and we explored the caves.
After a bit the caves were quiet and Billy was getting worried. "What time is it? ", he asked me worriedly. "Oh my gosh", its four 0'clock, we were suppose to be back by three", I said, my heart beating fast.
Billy panicked and he and I raced to the entrance of the cave.
The tide was coming in fast and on the wet and slippery floor
Billy slipped and fell on the ground unconscious.
I grabbed Billy then climbed up the side of the cave, which led up to the roof of the cave. There was a hole in the roof when we reached the top; I pushed Billy up it then climbed up myself. It was dark but I flashed my torch around and saw I was on top of a cliff, which was laid on top of the cave. I saw a puddle nearby and splashed some water onto Billy and he woke up. "Where are we?" he said sitting up.
"We are on a cliff on top of the cave we were in", I answered looking round. Suddenly I heard men talking, so did Billy.
We saw an apple tree and hid up it looking down at the two men and listened to their conversation gaping at what they were saying.
"Where's the jewels Brown" one man said. In a hole in that apple tree", said Brown pointing to the apple tree me and Billy were perched in.
We held our breath when he came and reached into the apple tree and pulled out a small brown bag.
"Wren's going to meet us tomorrow at Herring's harbour at half ten where will give him the jewels" the first man which name was Trent.
"Day or night?" asked Brown.
"Night, idiot, the coppers will spot us in daylight stupid". Trent said loosing his temper then they both hurried off.
When they were out of sight me and Billy slid down the tree and looked at each other, "We have to contact the police", I said to Billy flashing my torch to his face; it was white and he shivered in the cold. "I agree but we better be going home now" he said.
We caught a bus because luckily I had bought some money with me.
When we arrived home we were in serious trouble and we tried to tell them about the jewels but they just said it was an excuse for being very late and got sent to our dormitories with no tea.
"Why did you tell the teacher?" I asked him.
"Was you that said to" Billy said sulkily.
"Was not" I said and that was are last word that night.
"Jason, wake up, I need show you something!" Billy said pulling the covers on my bed off me.
"Ok, I'm awake but its got to be important, Its Saturday and on Saturday we lie in remember" I said pulling my jersey over my head.
I followed Billy downstairs and he thrust the newspaper into my hands and I gasped at what I read:
Queens's precious unique jewels were stolen on Thursday night!
On Thursday night a burglar broke into to the palace and stole the Queen's most valuable collection of jewels.
And the reward if you find the jewels will be a cheque for £21,672
"Jason, we have to contact the police", Billy said worriedly.
"I've got and idea, listen to me" I said and I told Billy my plan.
That night Billy and me climbed down the apple tree next to our window and sneaked two of the school's horses and we galloped down to the Herrings harbour. When we got there I gave the signal to Billy and he went to the telephone box nearby and he dialled 999. "Can you get me through to the police please?" he said to the operator "It's urgent, hello, come quickly to Herrings harbour at St. Bernard's bay, its important" Billy said quickly to the police "We're on are way" the policeman said.
Billy put down the phone and gave a thumb's up sign to me.
I smiled and then fixed my eyes on a motorboat that was coming towards the harbour. "That must be Wren coming to collect the jewels, I said.
The motorboat came to a halt at the harbour and a man stepped out of it.
While I watched this happening Billy had run to the car park and had greeted the police who had arrived suddenly.
Billy led them to the men and told them who they were.
"Go and surround them", the policeman ordered the other men and they walked silently to them and me and Billy couldn't help laughing at the robbers surprised and worried faces when they spotted the policemen walking towards them.
That night we couldn't get to sleep because of all the excitement of the day.
When I finally got to sleep I dreamt of the reward we would get and what would we do with it.
The next morning the policeman came and told the children that the queen was going to come herself and hand the reward over to them that afternoon and everyone was going to come and hold a celebration for the finding of it.
We were patted and cheered and congratulated by all the children exept our enemy Howard and his gang.
After lunch the teachers took all of us down to the railway where the queen would come on a train.
Billy and me stood apart from the other children because we were exepting the medal.
There were hardly any people around, only an old gentleman and women a family of four and a suspicious looking man that wandered around fiddling in his big leather pocket on his coat.
I didn't catch what he was doing because the train suddenly came to the station and the queen stepped out. The orchestra being playing God Save The Queen and we all sang along with it.
The queen walked towards Billy and me on her red carpet that was rolled out on the floor for her to walk on. I turned to see if I could see that suspicious looking man again and I did but I got a shock when I saw him. He was standing by a barrel and he was holding a gun pointing straight at the queen!
He pulled the trigger and "NOOO!" I leapt at the queen and pushed her onto the floor.
The bullet had fortunately not hit anyone but it smashed the train window.
The man who had fired the bullet had been quite surprised when he saw me push the queen out the way he had dropped his gun and it rolled under Billy's feet.
"Get him" Billy yelled and all the kids chased him down to a high fence and unfortunately he was quite tall and climbed over it.
To bad he didn't read the sign on it, guess what it said? Beware of the killer guard dogs.
The children went back to the railway and the queen was all right and they started the rewarding.
"Billy, Jason would you like to have something other than the reward seeing as you saved my life Jason?" "I mean you can have the reward and you could have a different present too?" she said.
Billy and I thought about and we decided we would share the money with different charities and see what the other thing was.
"What is the prize then." Billy asked.
She looked at me "Well know you like animals so I thought you would like some puppies, if that's all right with your teacher of course" "It's fine with me" our teacher said smiling at me and Billy's eyes.
Well by that time Billy and me were over the moon and the queen gave us four Springer Spaniels so we would have two each.
Guess what we named them?
I named my girl Jewels and my boy Chocolate.
Billy named his girl Crystal and his boy Scooter.
After the reward they held a party at the School and had a wonderful time celebrating while the robbers were in jail doing press ups and being bossed around by the police and… I won't tell you what happened to the man who tried to shoot the queen let's just say no one ever saw him again!
