Clermont, Paris 1567

"Everyone, run! Their in the village!" cries were everywhere. People were running, some crying. I saw men running toward the woods. They were all holding pitchforks and torches. I was scared. I couldn't tell were I was. There was too much confusion. I started wandering toward the woods. Maybe daddy was with the other men. I hoped he wasn't. The men scared me, but they looked scared too. Maybe somthing was wrong. I remember what James said this mourning.

"Somthing's going to happen tonight. I need you to be brave. Stay by the house, if you see anything, run." I remembered him clearly. Sitting on my bed. I walked toward the woods. I had to find out what was happening. I followed the men, staying behind bushes and trees. I followed them for a while, when the mens lights dissapered. I was alone. I turned around and tried to go back. I looked around. The trees were looming over me. I couldn't tell wich way I had come. I started to cry. I was scared. I heard something. A snap, and a short growl. I saw something walk slowly toward me. It was long and dark. I heard another sound behind me. I quickly turned aroud.

"Liz?" said the one behind me.

"James!" I cried out in relief.

"Liz, you have to get out of here, now!"

"But James,"

"Get out of here now!"

I ran, I ran off into the woods. As soon as I started running. The dark thing ran too. I didn't want it to catch me. I glanced behind. The dark thing stopped. It was looking at my brother.

"You can not have her." The thing growled.

"James?" The thing lunged at him. "JAMES!" I screamed, cried... and ran. I ran until I saw more lights. The village lights I made it. I stumbled home. No one was there. I ran to my bed and slowly, cried myself to sleep.
