Dahk's Story: The Red Resistence

Here it is Dahk's story, I think it's rather good.

There is a forest. There is a castle. Inside of the castle are thirsty bears. Anyone who tries to enter the gates of the castle will get ripped apart by the terrifying bear guards. The bears consume so much food, that there is none left for the other animals that live there. However there is a small resistance force trying to overcome and conquer the unfair rule of the grizzly bears. This is their tale.

Chapter 1 Canyon

“I can’t believe we lost that fight…AGAIN!” The German shepherd shouted as he entered the cave. His voice echoed around the rooms.
“Courage, lower your voice. Everyone in the world knows you lost the battle against the bears yesterday. Now, what did you get to eat?” Said a Dalmatian.
“I didn’t find anything, except for about three herbs. Thanks to those bears we don’t have any raw meat! Rescue, what’s the point of battling them, if we don’t even have enough food to feed ourselves? I wish there were more creatures willing to help.” Said Courage.
“Well there may be some meat out there. What about mice?” Rescue suggested.
Courage sighed. “Fine, I’ll see if those stupid bears left any.” And with that he marched out of the cave.

Courage walked along, searching for mice, when he came to a fast flowing river. He did not see a large shadow approaching him from behind. Then, suddenly he was knocked to the ground.
“Hey, you’re not food! Said the thing on top of him.
“Well of course I’m not food. That is, unless you’re a cannibal.” Said Courage. “Can you get off me?”
“Oh, I’m sorry. All me to introduce myself. My name is…Canyon. I am a server of the Dark Spirit. What is your name?” the thing said, as it hopped off of Courage, now he could see it was a Mountain Lion. “My name is Courage. I’m the leader of the resistance. Which, by the way, needs creatures. Would you like to join?”
Canyon thought about it for a second. Then, after a few minutes, he said, “Sure. Just as long as you don’t offer me shelter.”
Courage looked at him curiously. “Why don’t you want me to offer you a home?”
Canyon turned. “I don’t like charity. I’ll be out for a few days, and when I come back I’ll bring a…surprise with me.” Then he was gone. Lost to the sands of time, only to return again three days later.

Chapter 2 Canyon’s Company

It was a beautiful day in the woods, the sun shone brightly on the small creek that ran silently through the woods. A tall creature stood above the waterbed. His powerful, brown antlers looked golden in the sunlight. He bent down and took a sip. The water was so pure and sweet.
“Hello, Asmund. I haven’t seen you in a long time.” Said a familiar voice.
Asmund looked up. “Well, if it isn’t my dear friend Canyon! How are you doing, what brings you so far from your mountains to my tiny woods?” The giant moose asked.
“Well, see, I met this dog in the Bear’s domain. His name is Courage, and he’s the leader of a resistance. And…” Canyon said.
“And you want me to join him, don’t you? Listen, Canyon, I have some guests visiting here. It’s a pretty awkward time for me.” Asmund said.
“And who are these…guests? Could they perhaps, be fighters?” Canyon asked inquisitively.
“I don’t know. They just appeared last night. You do know it rained here last night; poor fools were soaking wet! So I just had to let them in. I couldn’t let them freeze to out there, so I let them in my home. In fact they should be there now.” Asmund explained.
“May I see them?”
“Why certainly Canyon.”
“What are their names?”
Asmund shrugged. “They never told me,” He said. “Come follow me.” Asmund said as the two of them walked off into the woods.

“What was his name again, Courage?” Rescue asked. She watched Courage walk back and forth, back and forth, stop at the entrance to the cage, look out of it, and then pace back and forth again.
“Canyon,” Courage growled, “and he said he’d bring help. It’s been one full DAY! He should be back by now!”
“Courage, do not be angry at his slowness; you have only given him one day to find help and then come back. You must improve your patience. We should wait at least one more day.”
Courage stopped pacing. I guess you’re right Rescue, one more day. But that’s it!’

Asmund stood in the doorway of his little leaf house in amazement. “They’re…they’re…gone! How? I only left ten minutes ago! They couldn’t have packed all they’re belongings in that short a period! They had so much things!”
Canyon searched the room. Hoping to find something that said the guests were still here, and that they were fighters. Then he saw something sparkle in the sunshine. He looked closer at it. Then, it hit him. He nudged Asmund. “Look, look, it’s… its… two diamonds!” Canyon shouted. He ran up to the diamonds sitting on the small chair. Asmund followed slowly. “Look at these, they’re beautiful. One black diamond, one orange, these are probably worth a lot! Asmund, those two travelers made you rich!” Canyon said excitedly.
Asmund took them from Canyon. He walked silently over to a pack hanging from the wall. He quickly slid the two diamonds inside. Then, picked the pack up, and put it over his shoulder.
“What are you doing, Asmund?” Asked Canyon.
“My guests last night said they would go to the Southwest. Straight to the Bear’s domain.” Said Asmund as he walked to the doorway. Then he turned to Canyon. “It seems like I’ll go to your friend’ s resistance after all.” Asmund called as he stepped out the doorway. Canyon quickly followed.

It was a new day and the first thing Courage did was step outside and look around for Canyon. But his search was fruitless. Courage was disappointed. He had looked forward to having another part of the resistance. He had dreamt the night before that Canyon would come out of the trees followed by a mighty army. But that would never happen.
Courage sighed and sat down. He looked down at the dirt, he took a twig and drew a bear; standing up on it’s hind legs. Below it stood a dog, standing up boldly against it.
“Nice drawing.” Said a voice from above him.
Courage looked up. Above him was a gigantic moose. And next to him was the face of Canyon. Courage wanted to get up and ask them both what they were doing here. But instead he ended up shouting at them both. “CANYON! I THOUGHT YOU WOULD COME BACK WITH AN ARMY! BUT WHAT DO YOU COME HERE WITH? A MOOSE! A Y MOOSE!” Courage shouted accusingly at Canyon.
“Well, it’s better than nothing isn’t it?” Canyon asked.
“NO! YOU MINE AS WELL’VE COME BACK WITH A BLADE OF GRASS! HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO INVADE THE BEAR’S CASTLE WITH A MOOSE!” Courage screamed.
Soon Rescue was awake, and running out of the cave to see what all the shouting was about. She tried to calm Courage down, but failed to do so and decided to just give up.
“QUIET!”
Canyon, Courage and Rescue all turned to look at the moose.
“Well, sure, go ahead and wake the whole forest up! For goodness sake!” Courage scolded.
Asmund decided to ignore this statement and carried on what he was going to say. “My name is Asmund. I have come for two reasons. One, to find my guests and return their diamonds to them. And two, to become part of your resistance.”

Chapter 3 Evil Erupts

The dogs (and moose) woke to screams, howls, and roars. They peaked out of their cave to see four bears slashing at a dog and a family of wolves. Courage ran out to help the poor creatures.
As Courage got closer he could see the wounds that the bears had given the wolves. But the dog was still to far away to tell how hurt he was.
Just then, a bear sniffed slightly, smelling Courage as an unfamiliar dog, it turned and swiped its gigantic claw at the German shepherd. Courage leaped, just in time only to land on another bear.
While the two bears fought above his head, the other dog moved in for the kill. He snapped at their throats, causing the two bears to flee.
Courage looked around and jumped off of one of the bears. He returned to the battlefield to see three of the five wolves limping. They could not stay out in the shed any longer. Courage motioned to them. They slowly lumbered over. Courage led them to his cave and whispered something quickly to Rescue, who then looked at him questioningly.
Courage rushed back out the shed once again. He and the other dog took down one bear. The two remaining wolves took down the other one with glee.
Courage called to Rescue. She quickly came bounding over. “Help me bring the catch home,” Courage said. “We have enough food for those three wolves also.”
They dragged the bear home. The two dogs, the wolves dug into their meal.

Early in the morning, everyone was asleep. That is, except for Rescue. She lay tending to the wounds of the wolves. She heard a raspy voice behind her.
“Dog. Help. Come here, please.”
She looked to see where it was coming from. A badly hurt wolf lay in the corner, crying for help. Rescue walked over. “Yes? What is it?” she asked calmly.
“I must tell you a story…before I…go,” he said. “Will you…listen to…it?”
Rescue nodded.
“Good. We came to this place sixty…sixty years ago…we had giddy…giddy and hap…happy lives with our fell…fellow wol…wolves” the wolf seem to fade from life.
“No… Don’t die. Keep telling me the story. Tell me the story. What happened to your fellow wolves? Did something happen?”
The wolf nodded. Then continued his story. “When we were…were…attacked last night…bro…bro got wounded. We…we tried…the best we could…could to defend him. The other…other two wolves were…were our…our…youngest brothers…the best…best fighters. They had…had no…no problem with…with the…the bears. As for the…the…dog…he’s a…a family…fri…friend.
“The…bears…are after our whole…whole family. They…followed us to…to this plac…place. I’m…I’m…sorry.” The wolf finished his tale, and then went back to sleep. Never to wake up.

Chapter 4 When the bears came

It was a muggy and rainy day. No one wanted to go outside, fearing that the mud would suck them down whole. And besides Courage, Rescue, and Asmund were to busy healing the wolves wounds.
Courage was running around the cave when he noticed Asmund, sitting by the mouth of his home. He slowly walked over to him. “Can I sit here?” He asked.
Asmund nodded.
“What are you doing?” Courage asked.
“Thinking.”
“About what?”
“About my guests, I don’t understand how they could move so quickly.”
“Maybe they were magic.”
Asmund shook his head. “I don’t believe in magic. There is always a reasonable explanation for everything.
“Ah, so we’ve got a logical one on our hands. This is going to be tough.” Courage said jokingly. “Come on let’s get back to work.
“Okay, but first let me see what that rascal Canyon’s up to, standing in the rain.” Asmund smiled, then got up and went outside the shelter; into the pouring rain. Courage watched as Canyon conversed with Asmund. He didn’t know why but Courage felt like something extremely bad was going to happen. After a few minutes Asmund hurried back, a grim look on his face.
“Canyon has been sent here by the dark spirit to kill. And I’m afraid we’re the ones his mind has settled upon.” Asmund said urgently.
“What?” Courage asked in disbelief.
“He is coming here to kill you and your little resistance. You must run now for he is very ly when he wants to be!” Asmund said urgently.
“Okay, first of all, you’re lying; I know you’re lying. Second of all, what’s the dark spirit?” Courage asked.
“It’s too late to explain! He’s here. I gave you your chance to leave. But I’m afraid now you’ll have to stand here and fight!” Asmund warned.
It was true. Canyon had reached the entrance to the cave and was now making his way over to Rescue, whose back was turned. She could not see him. Courage ran hoping he would get there in time. Canyon got closer, closer, In a few seconds he was right behind her back. Canyon’s claw was extended as he got ready for the kill. Courage was still to far away to help her. There was only one thing he could do. “Rescue run!” He shouted.
It all happened so fast. Rescue turned. Canyon swiped his claws at Rescue. Then there was a scream. The cat was flung against the wall. He fell limp to the ground, landing in a crumpled heap.
Canyon had been hit by the giant bear that stood above him.

Rescue rushed over to Canyon to help, but was blocked by yet another bear. The bear slashed at her, she dodged, and yet again tried to get past the giant and help Canyon. The bear, angry about his miss, tried to strike again. Right before he struck, a brilliant orange and black flash cut through the air. It appeared to by aiming for the bear’s jugular vein. It dangled loosely from the bear’s neck, for a moment. Then the bear started to thrash about, desperately trying to get the thing off his neck. The thing clung tighter, but soon he was thrown off. He landed on all fourson the ground. It paused, then lunged at the bear again. A few seconds afterward the bear dropped to the ground. . The other bear, saw its comrade lying on the ground. It fled, but not before saying to the black and orange creature, “you know I’ll tell this to the king, then you shall die like the rest here!” The bear then bounded away, with the creature following. Rescue paused a minute, and then followed them both out into the rain.

She followed them silently into the woods. But soon the forest grew so thick that she could not see. She soon lost the orange creature, and got lost herself. She got stuck in a clearing, the rain pouring down. “Courage,” she called, “Courage? Can you hear me?” Her voice echoed through the trees. She looked around, surveying her surroundings. That’s when she noticed it. A small parkle caught her eye. It came from the base of a tree. She walked towards it. As she got closer she realized that it was a jewel, an orange jewel at that. It was no bigger than a small pebble, but seemed very valuble. She picked it up delicately, and examined it. It was definitely a real diamond. Then she was knocked flat.
A tiger had come flying out of the shrubbery. He had hit Rescue right in the back. The orange gem flying out of her grasp, she reached out for it, but caught only thin air.
“Ow,” she said, “can you get off me?” Rescue waited patiently for a reply, but got none. The tiger didn’t move. Rescue got up. The tiger slid off her back, it had been knocked out. Gashes and bruises were all over his body, Rescue could not just leave him there.
“Come on,” she said, “you’re coming with me.”
She lifted him onto her back and set off for the cave.
