Chapter 30 Darthius

Most people think is brought by the Grim Reaper, some think of , some don’t think is brought by anyone at all. Well, that might be the case where you live, but in Xean…In Xean it has been proven. It has been proven that there is a messenger of . But it is not a human (or a thing in a big black cloak); in fact it is not human at all. It is a dog.
Now, you’re probably asking yourself, why is the author who hardly ever talks to us through her stories now talking to us about something that most people find the most adorable thing in the world? And my answer to you is simply, “shush, and listen!”
The dog’s name is Darthius. His coat is as dark as the night itself; his strangely curved ears stick up to make them look like horns. He has the body of a greyhound, but it’s a clearly known fact that greyhounds do not come in a color that’s as dark as darkest night (therefore he is not a greyhound). He is as tall as a Great Dane and has a thin, bare tail. He is like a shadow, for he is the shadow himself.
Some say he tracks you down and slays you with his fangs. Others say that he follows you wherever you go, and when he’s seen how you lived for awhile, he sets up your (of course when you ask the people who believe that how he sets up your they do not answer). But most just laugh at all the people’s silly ideas and say, “Darthius! Nothing but a myth! A superstition!” But later in their lives when they grow old and weary they see the fabled creature and freeze. They freeze from horror. One look at the dog’s radiant, red eyes and you feel like you’ve been lost, stranded alone for decades and millenniums! You feel like you’ve been surrounded by darkness and your forever plummeting, falling, always falling. These thoughts can drive one mad and claim their soul.

And it was this very creature that walked beside a certain elf on their way to a place called…
Tirsu.
