*Mike*

Run...run...run...run faster...get away from here...get very far away...

I stop sharply and take a deep breath. Dasheill skidds up behind me.

"D'ya think we lost 'em, Mikey?"

"I don't know, Dash. I think we have."

"Whew! I've nevah ran more in m' life."

"Never, Dash. Never."

"Whatevah."

I stand up strait and look back at my home. The home I had to leave. The home I love. The home I hate.

"I nevah want t' go bech ther' again!" Dash said in a relieved voice.

"Yeah...me niether...me niether." In reality I wish that I could go back, but Dad and Amy where there. Amy, my sister, and I never got along. She's Little Miss Perfect and I'm the stupid twin brother that can't do anything right. I think this is why Dad liked her better. Dad always beat me, but he never laid a finger on his little princess. Before she died, Mom wasn't much better. She would just sit on the couch all day and watch soaps.

The reason I had to leave was that I finally set Dad off. We got in a huge fight and I cussed a lot. Dad has a no cussing polocy, so I knew I was doomed. I don't know how it happened. They just slipped out. Maybe it would have helped if I hadn't slapped my sister afterwards, but I didn't care.

Before I knew it I was running for my life. I managed to find Dash and ask him to come with me. He emediantly agreed. Dash didn't have any reason to stay. He had no parents and lived with a brother who hated him anyway. It's at times like these that I wish my life was boring. Boring lives aren't bad lives. Interesting lives are usually unhappy lives.

"Wher' are we gonna go know, Mikey?"

"I don't know, Dash. I don't know."

"Pa used t' always tell me t' just foller the road. That it would take me wher' I wanted t' go."

"Yeah. I suppose we'll just follow the road. Let it take us where we want to go."

"How 'bout we head fer New York?"

"Naw... to far...Whyoming will be better."

"Why whyomin'?" Dash asked.

"I've got family there. An aunt."

"Alrighty! To Whyoming!"

"Yup. To Whyoming."
