Eggbeater

It was a morbid day on the twelfth of November, at exactly eleven o’ seven in the morning when it happened. There had been a rainfall at night, and soon the wet cobblestone streets turned into slick icy cobblestone streets. The horse had lost control of the carriage, and all went quiet when the two carriages collided. Both of the passengers of the other carriage had survived with minor bruises, and one had a broken leg in four places, but the first carriage, both of the passengers had died, and they were on their way over to their daughter’s piano performance.
When Mira heard the news from the officer, she was devastated. Some people could say that she went into a depression, but that wasn’t the case. She merely stopped smiling and being happy all of the time. Lucky for her, Beeker, the horse that had lost control, had survived, and was now living in a local veterinarian-lodging house for injured pets. It was mainly for animals that needed a lot of rest or took a long time to heal. Mira went to visit Beeker often, especially on cold days to make sure that he had a warm blanket. Mira’s friends always asked her why she was still taking care of the horse. Mira had always thought that it wasn’t the horse to blame, nor was it anyone’s blame; that was as far as anyone knew of course.
Meanwhile, Mira had to live in an orphanage just out Pertsonville. Mr. Dawson, Mira’s banker, was trying as hard as he could to find a family for Mira to live with. Mira had a mansion, of course, but her cook, Tootsie, couldn’t possibly take care of her. She needed a proper family with children. If there weren’t any children, they’d just have to make do.

After about a time-period of three and a half months, Mr. Dawson had finally found relatives, and they even had some children! At first the Candle family wasn’t pleased with the idea that they would have to be moving. Mr. Dawson explained to them that is would be best for Mira to stay in familiar surroundings.
“Must we move, Mummy?” cried Carrie Candle, the older of the two siblings, being fourteen.
“I wish we wouldn’t have to,” Joann Candle replied, turning to face Mr. Dawson.
“Mrs. Candle,” Mr. Dawson said haughtily. “ Do you even know what Mira’s last name is?” he simply asked.
“Let me think for a moment…isn’t it Hawthorne?” Mrs. Candle said egotistically.
“No, Mrs. Candle, her last name is Eggbeater-“ Mr. Dawson began.
“EGGBEATER??!!!!!” Carrie Candle shrieked. “Isn’t that the big mansion up on Northridge Hill??!”
“Yes. It is. There are ten bedrooms and four bathrooms, a pool and heated pool, a courtyard, a large garden, and a stable.” Mr. Dawson sighed.
“Oh, well in that case… when shall we move in?” Mrs. Candle said, as Mr. Dawson sat thinking: Oh no…what have I done?
