Jack was sitting down for dinner when he heard the call. He flipped on his jackal-skin coat and transformed into his jackal form. His wife and his four children followed close behind...
Dawn was panting. She couldn't hold on much longer. Her talons were becoming sweaty, and she could barely grasp the rocks. Her Snowy Owl form was not suitable for hot temperatures like this! What was taking the jackals so long?
Jack ran forwards, struggling to sidestep the man who was blocking their way. The Call had been sounded, there was no doubt about that! The man grabbed his smallest child, Marianne. Jack was furious-and even more furious when the man tossed Marianne into a small cage! He lunged forwards, knocking the man down. Freeing Marianne, he rushed on...
Dawn was sweating. She whispered to Jasmine, "Switch coats with you?" Jasmine didn't answer, she was too busy dodging. Like Dawn, she didn't have much energy left to catch the rocks, let alone throw them back. She was waiting! Where were the jackals?
Jack could feel the tingling in his head grow stronger. He was close to the PLACE! Just a few more jackal lengths (1 jl=2 ft)! A paw's length (1 pl=6 in) away was a giant hole. Ahead was a rift in the earth! It must have been 20 elephant lengths (1 el=3 yd) wide! But he needed to answer the Call! Would the other jackals hear?
Stay tuned for the conclusion...
