January: Garnet Facts
Jewelry from Egypt dating as far back as 3100 B.C. contained garnet stones. It was believed garnet would protect its wearer from enemies and could illuminate the darkness.
Noah reportedly used a garnet lantern illuminate the ark and guide it safely through the darkness of night.
February: Amethyst
In the Middle Ages amethyst was thought to encourage celibacy, and as a result became important in the ornamentation of churches.
Amethyst, according to Leonardo da Vinci, is able to increase intelligence and dissolve evil thoughts.
March: Aquamarine
In legends, aquamarine has its origin in the treasure chests of the mermaid. It is thought to bring good luckand fortune to sailors.
It is believed that if a person dreams of aquamarine he or she will meet new friends. According to ancient traditions aquamarine will guarantee a long and happy marriage.
