Adventuraca part 2 (a story with real kidpub authors)

Kirsten, Wesley, Malika, and Ellen gulped.
When they'd decided to read Adventuraca with some of the other authors, this kind of adventure was not expected.
The four authors were standing in a dark orphanage, the setting of the first part of the book. Kazel, Olivia, Krishna, Jessie, Michelle, and Maddy were also there.
"How did t-that happen?" asked Kirsten, her voice shaking.
"I don't know," responded Ellen. "As soon as I opened to page one it sucked me in. I went through a long tunnel of words and landed here."
"Me too!" said all the others.
Some of them started to cry. Wesley knew, as he was the oldest, that he should try to comfort them.
"Come on," he said. "I bet...um...hmmm, how do we get out of here?"
"I have an idea," piped up Malika. "To get out we just have to walk through all the pages until the end. Easy as that."
"But there's 345 pages!" wailed Kirsten.
"Plus," Ellen pointed out, "it's an adventure, right? So won't we have to battle our way to the end?"
Maddy felt her stomach sink.
"Let's just get out of here," said Wesley determinedly. "Whatever it takes."

Three other authors popped into the story just before the others set off. "Good timing," said Kazel. "We were about to leave."
"Leave to go where?" asked Joey, Nicole, and Nathan in unison.
"To journey through the pages of this book," said Malika matter-of-factly. "That's the only way we'll get to the end."
"Oh."
"Who should be our leader?" asked Michelle.
"Wesley," everyone agreed.
"Why me?" Wesley asked, but he was pleased.
"You're the oldest," Kirsten pointed out. "It's only logical."
So, with Wesley in the lead, the authors set off for an adventure they would never forget.
