The Fantastical Adventures of Mel: Chapter Three: Dragon Bones and Turtle Hairs

Mel rocketed through the basement door. She fell into Rosalina’s arms, panting like a tired dog. “Vhat is it child?” Rosalina questioned inquiringly. “My finger, it’s prickling unbearably, but the ring won’t come off. It hurts like pins and needles and it’s driving me insane! Help me, please, help me.” Cried Mel, tugging at the ring. “The goblins, they are near. Stay here, I must fetch something.” Rosalina disappeared for a moment, and then returned with some odd looking glasses.

“These, my friend, will help you better see the goblins. They use invisibility powder, a very rare specimen that mixes a type of crystal and saliva. When these two minerals touch each other and come in contact with human skin, a chemical reaction occurs causing invisibility. The goblins drape this over them and they can only be seen by the spectacles of magic or in other words, these.” Said Rosalina, handing the glasses to Mel. She took them and placed them on the bridge of her nose. To be honest, she looked like quite a geek. “They can feel the power of the ring and they are coming to get the sacred piece of jewelry. The goblins, I mean. You have to capture them Mel, somehow, someway. If you don’t they will come back each time, stronger and stronger.” Mel nodded, understanding.

Together, they sat in the kitchen silently, drowning among their thoughts. “Dragon bones!” Mel shouted, out of the blue. “Dragon bones weaken the power of goblins. I shall make a cage and set cottage cheese in it (which is many goblins favorite food, for some reason) and trap the little creatures as they greedily gobble it down. Those dim-witted goblins won‘t know what hit them.”

A grin spanned across Rosalina’s face. “My god, I think you’ve done it.” Proclaimed Rosalina, swaying her rather large hips to a small happy dance. Mel got up and ran excitedly to the study in the basement, spectacles of magic still sitting on her face. She fetched the dragon bones that were sealed in a glass container and she also grabbed the turtle rope, made of turtle hairs, who Mel knew were the strongest in the world. She made herself very cozy on a small stool and began her work, stringing together dragon bones and turtle hairs.

Nice, but...how does Mel

Nice, but...how does Mel know these things? Does she gain knowledge or something from the ring? Or did she and Rosalina spend many vigorous hours of off screen studying and magic practice? Hmm...but nice story.

I wrote in the second

I wrote in the second chapter that she read Rosalina's guides. That's what she learned it from. Also Mel went upstairs and to lake because she was already in the basement. (your question from the second chapter.) By the way, I am grateful that you are reading my series. I love when I get comments on every chapter from the same person. I makes me feel all warm inside, lol.
