these are some haikus we had to write last year for language arts. for anyone who doesnt know , a haiku is a poem with 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the 2nd, and 5 again in the last.

The gentle wind plays
a song to the mighty trees
the trees dance along

The soft wind whispers
a secret to the tall trees
The trees shake with joy

Beneath the quiet
leaves sway, deer hide, birds fly
life is everywhere

Sun comes into view
gently warms butterfly wings
it flies by suns light

light specks in darkness
a silent flashing chorus
fireflies light the night
