How They Affect Me

I once said they’d never
Be able to change who I am
They’d never be able
To make me cry, make me break
Down and wish things I
Had never wished before.

Well, I was wrong
I never knew what boys
Could do to a girl like me
Well, I was wrong
I never knew that they
Would change my life.

He loved me like no other
But when it got too much for him
He let me go, he hated to see me hurt
He hated not being able to be there
So he let me go free, even when
I didn’t want to.

I still love him like crazy
I still want his sweet love
I still need him like I need air
He still loves me, I can tell
I see it in his eyes, I can feel
It when he touches me.

He broke my heart
I’m not mad at him,
How could I be mad at
The man who taught me
To be strong and
Have courage?

I’m still his loving daughter
But sometimes I can’t take the
Pain of seeing him leave me
And knowing that he doesn’t
Love her anymore, If he doesn’t love
Her, then I feel forsaken.

He’s the only one who can
Really make me feel good inside
Without making me feel guilty at the
Same time, he will always love me
No matter what I do or
Who I become.

I love him like a big brother
And he means so much to me
I know he will always be there for
Me when I need him, he has really shown
Me how much he truly loves me
And how much he cares.
