A little bit of a story. if you like, i will continue.

by Ellen
in Forks, Washington (I wish)

carefully swing the gloss brush over my lower lip, and smile at my reflection in the bathroom mirror. The earrings are horrendous, but surprisingly good considering they are my aunt’s old clip-on-s. I am wearing a rather potato-sack style green dress and white sandals. My nails are painted flaming pink, courtesy of my cousin, Mack. Mum refused to let me wear eye shadow, but I snuck some on anyway. It’s called Shimmer Purple--I got it free in the post with a make-up catalog that Mum almost chucked.
I drift slowly down the hall, soaking up the smell of ham and wine. The living room is filled with relatives, all of whom say I look cute and give me a quick hug that I don’t really return. My sister Charlotte is glowing in the lime light of her party. I personally try to hide in the corner while I nibble at some of assorted crackers. Dad keeps walking by, tapping me on the shoulder and trying to get me to mingle.
“So, how’s the picture?” My aunt laughs, downing a gulp of red wine. She slings her arm around Charlotte-like she’s her pal her something. Charlotte scurries over the mantle, (glad to be free of Aunt Wendy’s grasp) and proudly shows the room her new driver’s license. That’s what this party is for-my sister finally getting her license. I squish myself farther into the couch cushions, watching Charlotte giggle and smile.
My sister has smooth dark brown hair and big almond eyes. She wears flowing skirts and tank tops. She is also, a particularly bad driver. I’m not saying she’s some dumb popular girl who’s never worked hard in her life. She is a B student with a warm laugh and a liking for the occasional boy band…who just, can’t drive. I would have believed that she swooned the instructor-but the instructor was a woman in her fifties with an Irish accent--quite frankly, not my sister’s cup of tea.

***I may change the beginning, but if you like where this is going, tell me. It is about rasberry yogurt, ice skating, and a little bit of love***
