The Wish of a Kid Living in Poverty
By Clarice 1/30/08
Fresh water flowing
Green grass growing
Rain clouds coming
These are the things
I dream of at night.
Clean clothes every day
A warm bath just for me
A nice bed to sleep in
These are the things
I want in my life.
Surrounded by the poor
Not sure what to look
Forward to anymore
They say it’s getting better
But not for me, cuz still
My country is in poverty.
Healthy family and friends
A big school to learn in
A good life to live
These are the things
That were promised to me.
No money to spend
No affordable health care
No soft bed to lie down in
No getting smarter
No rain to play in
No bath to bathe in
No food in our bellies
We’re in poverty.
Surrounded by the poor
Not sure what to look
Forward to anymore
They say it’s getting better
But not for me, cuz still
My country is in poverty…

Sad. And yet, meaningful. It is very deep and really opens your eyes. It makes you realize that a bunch of kids actually have to live like that. And the truth hurts, but we need to know the truth to help. I am adding to my favs. So so so deep! Great Job!
Wow, that is really good.
