Spring 2008 Writing Contest WINNERS!

It's a bug's life!

Wow, this was the toughest contest yet to judge. All of the entries were very creative...some poems, a play, and stories of every kind. About half of you chose to describe the life of a ladybug (and one guybug). It took a lot longer than usual for our judges to agree on winners.

And they are...

1st prize, a $50 Amazon gift certificate, goes to Marie Lynn Cadoc for her entry, "A Day In the Life Of the Cricket". What a wonderful story...Marie Lynn really brings us into the secret life and thoughts of this delightful cricket. When you look around and all of the judges are smiling we know we have a winner!

Runners-up, each receiving a $25 Amazon gift certificate:

Karthik Bala, "A day in the life of Bob, the Pill Bug". A pill bug? We were rolling on the floor while reading this one.

Zoe Schmidt, "The Last Day". This is a poignant telling of what must come to every insect, even the beautiful ones. It really reminds us about how fragile life can be.

We truly enjoyed reading each entry...the quality and variety of submissions seems to be going up for each contest. If you didn't win a prize this time, don't be sad...the scoring was very close! We'll be announcing the next contest in a few weeks and you can give it another go!

Congrats again to our winners!
