Let me warn you, this is a pretty long poem...

The Ocean's Butterfly Among Us

When all seems to fade
Into the dark, cold day
Just know the world is here
Because the world knows no fear

Falling among space, just like the others
Falling like a downy snow flake, just like brothers
Whisp away your breath like a butterfly
Sitting here now in my own snowy mind

I don't wanna go home right now
I wanna sit here and never leave somehow
The world darkens and I'm in my haven
Protected and dark, mysterious like raven

The rain falls and dampens my socks
I can hear time through the tick of the clock
Waiting, for something to come to me
Waiting, for the darkness to be free

Crimson clover flowers fall into the dead of the night
No one hears the whisper of the faeries in flight
The twinkle of the stars lifts me away
I only return in the exposed light of day

Don't fight the tears that rush to your eyes
They're the only thing that seperates you and I
I don't know my name, and I don't want to
I want to live alone, and don't call anytime soon

I sit watching re-runs at four-thirty A.M.
I swing outside, listening to the dark melodies playin'
The sea sings out loud and is quiet under the waves
The seahorses dance and watch the mermaids play

Dark, glimmering ocean tonight
Fat, fluffy snow flakes in flight
Hard, cold rain drops fall and wash me today
Night whispers as the wind comes out to play

Hide me from the sun, it's too bright for my eyes
Shelter me from the warmth, cold keeps me alive
Release me into rain, as it washes away my sin
Fling me into cold, soon the snow will begin

The night knows me through and through
The snow knows me, I do the snow too
The rain knows me, and I know the rain
The ocean knows me, and it knows my pain

My blood flows through me, take the notion
The blood flows through like the ocean
Can you see the snow, it's my soul
Do you feel the rain, it's the part of me that's cold

I won't run away, unless the rain follows
I won't leave here, as long as the night here is hollow
I won't stay here, as long as the ocean stays blue
I won't stay here, as long as you're leaving too

Hopefully we'll all stay here forever
Hopefully the ocean's end comes never
Leaving though, some of us must
There's one, though, that will never leave
The ocean's butterfly among us

The Ocean's Butterfly Among Us
