Ok, let me get this straight: This is one of the best series I have ever read. When you read the back of the book and/or the first few pages of it, it might not catch your interest, but GIVE IT A CHANCE!!! Once you get past the first few chapters the story really starts to kick up.
Here is a brief summary of the Underlander books:
Gregor is an 11 year old boy who lost his dad a few years back. His mom had to get a job and a lot of times he has to take care of his two little sisters, Boots and Lizzie. When Gregor went to do laundry, Boots got a little to curious and fell through a grate in the laundry room. Following instinct, Gregor went after her. They fell for a long time and ended up underground. Gregor and Boots find that underneath New York city is an underground civilization where giant rats, cockroches, mice, bats, and other creatures thrive. Gregor and Boots also find that there are humans in this underground city. Gregor then learns that the "Underlanders" think of him as some sort of warrior that is supposed to fullfill their many prophecies. The series tells about Gregot and Boot's adventures with the giant creatures and of the dangerous prophecies they must face.
This is an awesome book that is a must read for everyone!
