in Espana (not really)
The t.v. suddenly shut off.
"Dang!" Jay shouted and dropped her popcorn. "Now I'll never know the best male actor!"
"That's strange. Coincidence is it?" Beth studied the outside. "The moon seems to be normal right now."
The moon flickered again.
"Perhaps I spoke too soon."
"Well, I'm calling my mom. I am bailing out, this is getting weird."
"No, this is nothing I promise. There have been worse stuff guys I mean come on!" Jay was standing up now.
"Well, I mean there have been other peculiar events." Beth started.
"And that's what I mean. This will blow over in no time. I mean it's not like the world's gonna end."
The lights in the room started to flicker and than went out.
With the deepest mid-night blue sky and no light it was extremely hard to see. The only light was the moon that was still flickering on and off.
"Ok, I'm getting out of this place!" Rose started dialing.
RING RING
"How could the phones be working? The power is out." Beth flicked up the lights constantly but no light came.
"I'll get it." Jay stood up.
"No Jay! Your parents aren't home!"
"It's just the phone."
Jay picked up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Hello, who is this?"
"Jay Nuben. Who are you?"
"Well, Jay. You seem like a middle schooler am I right?"
"Yeah. I'm twelve years old."
"Oh my goodness Jay give me the phone!" Beth reached for the phone.
"So Jay are your parents home?"
"No, they went to a party and shouldn't be home for another three to four hours."
"Jay!" Beth snatched the phone away from Jay. "Are you absoloutely nuts!! Hello?"
"Jay?"
"No, this is Jay's mother, Karen." Beth used her mature voice and made up a random name. "My little Jay here got alittle caught up. You know kids and their sugar."
"Yeah right, Karen. Um, we have a package to deliver to your address here and we mis-placed it."
"Excuse me but we did not order-"
"56 Mailhorn Drive in Oakhurst City!" Jay yelled after quickly snatching the phone away from Beth.
"Perfect." The was a quick hang up.
"ARE YOU CRAZY! YOU DEFINETELY NEED PROFESSIONAL HELP! YOU GOT A BRAIN PROBLEM! YOU DON'T JUST TELL STRANGERS THAT YOUR HOME ALONE AND YOUR ADDRESS!"
"He seemed nice." Jay went back to eating her popcorn.
"Hey Rose is your mom picking you up?"
"No, my phone isn't working."
"Try this phone." Beth held out the phone her and Jay had just used.
"Ok." Rose started dialing and hit send. Moments later she hung up the phone and said, "The phone doesn't work."

I wish there was a knob on the TV to turn up the intelligence. There's one called "brightness," but it doesn't work.
