I had a debate question for all. Has anyone noticed how trivially the word ‘love’ is used these days? Does this ever piss anyone off?
For instance, a few days ago I was complaining to my friend over the phone how I took this quiz that said I was going to fall in love 9 times before I got married. She told me that wasn’t so bad, it was only 9 crushes.
Getting agitated, I exclaimed, “No! Not like that! That’s just a flimsy crush! That’s not love!”
My friend didn’t understand how love was any different. I spent about 10 minutes explaining to her how love was way deeper (lol) but she still didn’t get it. Finally, after much explaining and examples, she gave me the best explanation I had ever heard.
She said, “So love is basically something that changes your life after you experience it.”
Then she asked me how someone would recognize love, asking me, “How can you tell a crush from love? What’s the difference? How do you know?”
Finally, I exclaimed, “I don’t know! I just know love is way deeper than middle school crap! I guess you… er… I dunno, I guess you just have to wait and see.”
Yesterday, I watched ‘Spirited Away’. After knowing the boy Haku for only a few days, Chihiro (also known as Sen) is quick to say ‘I love you’. Wtf is up with that? I know that it sounds more dramatic and probably helps movie sales, but seriously.
I don’t know, I’m probably just ranting. But thoughts and opinions, anyone? Oh, and by the way, this is not targeted to anyone particular. So yeah. Please don’t jump me. xD

What a topic to bring up.
What a topic to bring up. Many teens and kids are confused about what "love" is today in the world. truthfully, there isn't just ONE type of love. The love that comes from when you crush on someone tends to be more of a liking or obssession or just a strong wanting, almost like lust but not in a sexual way... most of the time... anyways, when it comes to love between a guy and a girl it can go two ways. love in a friendship and love in a relationship. when you love someone as a boyfriend or girlfriend it means you have strong feelings for that person, that you know them, you care for them, you want to be with them, etc. it doesn't mean you will never fight, it doesnt mean that they think you're hott and you think they're cute, it doesn't mean that after one argument you're going to not love that person anymore. its so much more. love between a friend is like saying, "i care about you and i'll always try to be there for you, but i only like you as a friend. i want to leave all that affection out of it"... for those of you who read my poems and stories you know i write about love A LOT. i write about love between friends and between my boyfriend and i. if you're choosing to love someone you 1) have to know what love is to you and 2) truly mean it. love does seem to get thrown around a lot, but that's becuz not everyone has a strong sense of what love means to them, most teens and kids are still trying to find out what love is to them.

I love Red&Black. I love my music. I love wolves. I love my friends. I love my parents and family. I love someone. I love my life. But most of all, I Love The Lord My God...
I'm sorry if the truth hurts...
I'm not sure your right
I'm not sure your right about the love between friends. That can be the strongest of all... I totally get what your saying, Maron. Love isn't a crush, to me love would be you'd (not to be suicidal or anything) want to die for them. So that their life is as important as your own.

I agree with Paige. Love
I agree with Paige.
Love isn't something that you understand overnight. I live in a class where anybody who's anybody is going out with this person, breaking up with them on AIM, and then getting back together. I don't understand it and try to ignore it.
But love is a deep, deep word. It mean A LOT. "Crush" just means to have a liking in a guy or girl. "Love" goes more into depth.
