“Sorry sir, for inconveniencing you,” he smirked. Dr. Somme narrowed his eyes angrily and gave up.
Dr. Somme pivoted on his leather heel and marched off, dismissing the lines as he went.
. . .
After school, students flooded through the gates and bustled up the long Roman road. All of the Angelos had agreed to get home extra early so they could prepare for the mission and first meeting. Kelly was going to bring bows and arrows for everyone and Jude was going to give them a ‘crash course’.
Aidan reached the farmhouse, and to tell the honest truth was still contemplating what to say to his parents when he got home. He paused outside the door and breathed in, he rapped on the wooden door. Clover answered the door, ‘thank goodness’ where the only two words on Aidan’s mind.
“You look a bit worried, something the matter?” asked Clover suspiciously, she was pretending to be grown up and caring even though she wasn’t.
“Nah, I’m just going to my first Angelo Scouts meeting today,” replied Aidan.
“Ye better go upstairs and get changed then if your going to the forest…..” she said as she walked back inside and went back to her studies.
Aidan raced upstairs and changed into some old worn jeans, and a chocolate brown hoodie. He ran down stairs and grabbed his dads hatchet from the veranda and his bow from the porch. He took his mountain bike down to the forest and parked it next to them oak he had told them to meet by. All of them were already there except Piper, who arrived directly after him with his dads iron hatchet.
“Okay guys, it’ll take about three hours work to finish the cabin,” stated Piper looking at his watch.
“The boys will chop the wood, while the girls tie the logs together with rope,” added Aidan.
“We’ve already dug the foundation and laid the floor………” said Hannah optimistically.
Kelly sighed and shook her hair, which she had died jet black. The boys took shifts cutting the wood as it was tiring and they only had two hatchets, one bronze and the other iron. The girls spent ages lashing the wood together with hard frayed rope, soon they saw the structure of the cabin erecting itself from the ground. The wind started to howl and it sent a shiver through their bones, but they kept on working tirelessly.
“Oh,” moaned Kelly, “when are we going to finish, it looks about ready to me.”
Aidan looked at the hut, “Okay everyone can stop and catch their breath, will anyone volunteer to help me waterproof the wood with resin stuff?”
Piper volunteered, it took them about fifteen minutes of smearing the foul smelling gunk on the wood until they were finished.
They began training at finally after a quick snack, the group was divided into two groups. Kelly taught one group archery and Jude taught the others Parkour, then they swapped over. After an hours crash course they headed back home. Aidan’s head was killing him, it felt like someone had taken the seed of thunder and planted it deep in his head and watered it. He was tired and covered in dirt, yet confident that they’d be ready to fight Carrack. He reached home and fumbled for his key, but before he could find it his parents opened the door. They both looked cross, Kerry was livid and flushed red while Alan was trying to feign angriness when he was really just tired and to fed up to disagree with Kerry.
“How could you sneak out with out asking us and come back covered in muck?” screamed Kerry, Aidan sighed and tried to explain……
“I joined-” but he was interrupted by his mum.
“I don’t care if you joined the blooming army, next time you stay out this late ask us!” ranted Kerry, “now go upstairs and have a shower, it may get a little chilly as the heats been turned off but it serves ye right!”

I liked it! I'm kinda jumping into the middle of the series, but your writing is very fun to read! Like zoe, however, I'm definately looking forward to the next one! One note- it seems like Kelly talks a little bit like more of a boy. Just be careful in how you word some of the dialogue. Overall, though, fantastic!
Danger - Fear = Excitement
Happiness + Time = Peace
