Chapter One: The Riders begin
Part One: Tantis.
Tantis was not useful (only a little twit that got in the way,) until he was sixteen. At sixteen he met Canter!
Canter was one year younger then Tantis, but he was richer by far. Tantis’s family was poor, his father was a carpenter and his mother did not work. But Canter’s father was a lord. And his mother was a weaver.
At first, Canter thought Tantis was a little twit, too. But then he noticed Tantis was a little more flexible then he, and Tantis knew how to climb trees and he could run with the other children, though they shot him almost evil glances, and best of all Tantis could be free!
