Part Two: The Messenger
When Tantis and Canter became friends, Canter showed Tantis his palace and introduced him to his parents.
One day, when Tantis was with Canter in Canter’s house, a messenger from the king rode up to the castle. Canter was with Tantis when he opened the door, “May I see your father?” asked the messenger.
“Yes sir,” said Canter who was used to having to get his father for important people and he liked it.
Tantis hurried after him.

The messenger told Canter’s father that the king needed two knights to be his spies and his secret men. Canter’s father (Balis) said, “Why don’t you take my son and his friend?”
The messenger roared with laughter.
“BOYS?” he sneered. “What do you think boys would do?”
“Well… Canter has always wanted to do something for the king and I don’t know if his friend would?”
“I would!” cried Tantis.
“Alright!” shouted the messenger, curling his lip.
