I had a pretty bad first impression of Artemis Fowl because in the first book, the protagonist isn't very protagonistic. But when I read the second book, I was amazed. It's funny, and I read it THREE TIMES IN A ROW before I got bored of it.
I've only read up to the fourth book so far, but the story keeps on getting better and better. As the series continues, Artemis Fowl becomes more likeable, and other great characters develop too: Holly Short, Mulch Diggums, Juliet Butler, Butler, etc.
These books are GREAT!

Ok, so I've only read the first book... Honestly, that kid has issues - he's so mean to the faeries! It was pretty funny, but it could have been better.
