Even though her father hadn't given any straight faward information she had a good idea of where the conversation would have gone, had her dad cooperated.
She had the impression he was working on something with the lable, TOP SECRET, over it in big red letters. Also that he was up to nothing good. But that might be because he looked more mischivious, than worried, or angry, when his work was metioned.
Ariana was more interested in what Joe's dad was up to than her own father. So was Kit. She told him to keep it a secret from Joe. If Joe heard Ariana was acusing her father of some evil plot, she would never live it down. Even more bring up the fact that she might even be right, and her dad was not out to do what she thought.
Even so a new secret was added to the Earth's core of secerets but this one was almost as important as the school's, and the one Ariana's father was keeping.

"I still don't understand," Kit was saying, "how do you know he's out to get all of us? And whats the 'Councle' and the 'Station?'"
"How should I know?"
"You heard them." Kit protested.
"Not everyting. Besides if they already knew what those things were do you really think they would explain it to one another?"
"No I guess not." He answered, "But still you must have found out something?"
"No I alredy told you. The only thing I know is that whatever this plan is it has to do with you, me, and Joe." Ariana said.
"Jees. Of all times boy do I wish I was Candi."
"I know, then we could just read his mind and be done with it." Ariana fumbled through all the possibilities that the Councle and the Station might be.
"You know we could spy on him." Kit said.
"Pardon?" she asked.
"Spy!" Kit said like it was the most obvious thing in the world, "I could send Chesnutt and she could spy on him."
"Kit you know as well as I do that, that is the most STUPID idea you've ever come up with." Ariana remarked, "I mean what if she got caught. Kit she's like your only family and she'll point that out. That's not very bright."
"What choice have we got? She'll do what I say. She always has, and always will."
