Chapter 7
I packed my bags and left. I know this sounds like those other corny fairytales when the princess gets lost and then she finds true love and they live happily ever after. I was destined to find a companion. And I would fight for if I had to. My parents on the other hand were sleeping of course and I know they're going to blowing up when they find that I'm gone. I headed for the south part of the village where it was alot more crowded. I slept in a hotel when I heard a sudden ring. It was my cell phone. "Hello," "IS THAT YOU JOANN? I OUTTA KICK YOU OUTTA MY HOUSE FOR SNEAKING AWAY AGAIN! I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING GOING TO FIND LOVE AREN'T YA? WELL YOU KNOW WHAT? SINCE YOU THINK YOU'RE OLD ENOUGH TO SNEAK OUT OF THE HOUSE A SECOND TIME THEN YOU LIVE ON YOUR OWN. YOU CAN CALL, BUT I WANT YOU TO SEE WHAT THE REAL WORLD IS LIKE," she hung up. This time I didn't weap I stood firm. I think I could live on my own. I was responsible and my parents raised me well, now it was time to apply what I had learned.
Chapter 8
The next day I started my quest. I walked across the whole town until I saw this one man. He was tall and he was riding a bull. He looked like he was single, but I had no chance once I saw all the ladies admiring hi, while he was soaking it up like a sponge. "Me ladiosos, give your man Santiago a little time. Me choose when me ready. " This was foolish. He was going to choose a wife out of a popularity contest. No way. I was about to move on when he said, "Ey. Little Ladio. Come over here with the Santiago and let me take a look at you." His ladies or ladiosos snarled and stared at me angrily. "Hmmm. Ole'! Me found a wife!" The whole village square stopped and looked at me up and down. His ladies on the other hand walked away sniffing and crying, jealous of me. "Are ya gonna tell me your name wife?" He had a smirk on his face. "Get your hands off my face," I yelled in his face. "What's wrong me ladie?" "You're just stuck up bull rider trying to marry me for good publicity for you. Beleive me I know what it means to be used." "All I wantedwas your name and-." "My name is Joann. I come from the North side of the village. I was supposed tpo have a wedding, but my groom was using me. So I found someone else and he didn't want me anymore. Then my parents found out and told my groom and his folks and my groom called off the wedding. That's why I came here," I started crying. I was embarassed that I was sobbing in public, but hey, if those people went through what I went through they would be doing the same. "It's okay. I'll be there for you, if... you become my bride." I lifted my head and wiped my tears. "Yes, I accept." The crowd now cheered while Santiago's ladies' smiles turned into sobs and frowns. I was once again getting married.
