Chapter 4 The Crocodiles

Mrs. Hofman grabbed a coffee mug from under the sink and poured the rest of the teapot into her cup. "Ok girls let's get going. Would you like something to snack on," she asked. "What do you have?" the girls asked. "Well, I have to go to Mr. Woody for more food, but I have my good old cinnamon toast" she answered. "That would be great." Mrs. Hofman quickly toasted some toast and headed out the door. "This way," Mrs. Hofman called. "Here, take these. It's all the crocociles will eat and get away from us." "Euw beatles," the girls screamed. All of them quickly threw one to the end of the lake and the girls just wanted to get rid of them anyway. "Run! They're coming after us," Marisa screamed. Sarah pulled on Marisa's arm and pulled her halfway through the bridge. The bridge was 18 feet long across. "Run Marisa! You can run faster than that," shouted Sarah. The bridge was cracking with every step they took. Marisa stopped running. She walked lightly on the bridge. The crocodiles pulled and pulled, but all of them were over the bridge by now except for Marisa. "Marisa, run before the bridge breaks! It's cracking," Mrs. Hofman called. Marisa noticed that running and stomping would break the bridge more easily so she walked quietly along the bridge so the crocociles wouldn't notice she was still there.
