Caroline Tennyson was hanging around with her friend Holly Long, since she was her only other friend. They were playing tether ball when Lola socked the ball up high, out of the blue.
"WTH?!" Holly screamed.
"Caroline, the band's back together," Lola informed her.
"Huh? Wha? Really!" Caroline yelled.
"Yep. Lindy said some'in' 'bout not makin' a mou'ain outta molehill,"
"Where'd the accent come from?"
"Oh, yeah. Sometimes that accent flickers on and off,"
"Liar!" Caroline grinned.
"Yeah,"
The bell rang, and the three girls ducked into class just before they were marked late.
Mr. Staudt, the teacher, held up the trophy for the winners of the Battle of the Bands Competition. It was bright and gold-plated and looked like a fancy bowl. Everyone stared at it.
"Lola, check it out!" Fifiana yelped.
"I know!" Caroline gawked.
"I wish Lindy could see this, but she's in the other class," Lola sighed.
"Whatever," Caroline replied, "She's gonna see it when we win it!"
"Yeah!" Fifiana whispered- whooped.
"This," Mr. Staudt said, "Is the trophy for the winners of the Battle of the Bands Competition,"
As if they didn't know.
"The winners will get this, and a free pizza party at Mr. Z's!"
Matthew from the band Matthew and the Boys stood up and said, "I'll take the trophy now,"
Sandy Callipatro was rooting, "Go Sock Monkeyz! Woo!"
Portia from The Pretty Pretty Princesses was really sad that no one was cheering for her band, so Fifiana said, "Let's here it for the Pretty Pretty Princesses!"
Fifteen people clapped, which made Portia feel better.
"Everybody, quiet, puh-lease!" Mr. Staudt ordered.
The class was immediately silent, except for Sandy and Matthew, who were betting on which band would win. Sandy for the Sock Monkeyz, and Matthew, of course, for Matthew and the Boys.
"Let's just see who gets that trophy," Sandy smirked.
