Ms. Europe- Chapter 3- part 2- Fired

Annie and I were shocked, our eyes were WIDE open.
Ma sobbed.
"But, how?" I asked.
"Hun, I don't know. The manager called me to his office. I thought maybe to give me a praise of how hard I’ve worked. Then, he said that I was fired!" Ma said.
"Ma, what are we going to do?" Annie asked.
Ma sniffed,
"I don't know. I will talk to your father later." Ma said.
"Does Papa know you got fired?" I asked.
"No." Ma mumbled.
"This is awful!" Annie said.
"Ma, just to let you know, we'll keep this family together, no matter what." I said.
"Thank you, Hun."

That night, when papa came, we had a silent dinner.
"Why is dinner every night since last week has been so quiet?" Papa asked.
No one answered.
"What's going on?" Papa asked.
"Robert, let's talk about it later." Ma said.

Once dinner was over and Jenna, Harry, and Louie were asleep, Annie and I sneaked out of our room.
We went to Ma and Papa's bedroom door.
They were reading about Princess Dianna.
We listened.
"Robert, I have to tell you something." Ma said.
"What?"
"Well, I got fired from my job." Ma said.
"What?!" he yelled.
"Sshhh, you'll wake up the kids." Ma said.
"How'd you get fired?" He asked.
"Uh, Roby, I don't know." She said ashamed.
Papa sighed.
"This is not working out for us." Papa said.
"I'm tired of us struggling to survive in this-this house! With the bills, and the insurance! It's getting tiring! I'm done here!" Papa said.
"Wait, your not leaving are you?" Ma asked.
"Yes, I’m leaving. we need to have our own lives. I'm done with this family!" Papa said standing us.
Annie looked worried.
"I'm gonna move to a better place, a place where I don't spend so much money for these kids! For our food and our cars, and everything!" Papa said.
Annie and I hear Ma sobbing.
"Tomorrow, we sign the papers!" Papa said.
"Where are you planning to live?" Ma asked.
"I'm going to take my car, and drive away! And I’m going to live in that car!" Papa said.
"But-" Ma said.
"Enough, Julie! It's a divorce and that's FINAL!"
