Seven Gifts, Chapter 9

I woke up before Ray, and went to the bathroom to get dressed. When I got out, he was up and ready. I had my hair in a clip and nothing on my face but a dab of lipgloss. Ray still hadnt mentioned our little talk about me liking him, and I was really happy about it.

In Speed, we were interrupted by a strange smell. It smelled just like- "FIRE!" I saw a student from my Sighters class burst in. Everyone including my ran out and looked at the fire. It was advancing toward us, quickly. Somneone grabbed my hand and spun me around. "Grey! What the-" Something exploded and threw us clear acrossthe room, away from the students. A strong hand appeared around my mouth, and before I could scream, cupped it. Another hand hit Ray on the side of his head and knocked him out. A face appeared in front of mine and smiled, hideously. "Remember me?" I recognized the face before he knocked me out.

I woke up to a horrid smelling place. I tried to look around, and recognized it as a underground basement that the school used for its files. I tried to remember what had happened. The word fire, an expolsion, a face with green spots- I heard a groggy noise. "Ray?" I tried to move my hands, but they were tied uncomfortably behind my back. "Anne?" I tried to smile, but my lips cracked when I tried. I looked around. Ray was up against a wall beside me, and we were pretty close together. I tasted blood on my lips. "Dase... Ray. He busted my lip." Ray grunted. "I'll get him for it."

a voive slithered. Me and Ray looked around and saw Dase. He was like a fly on the cieling, sticking to it. I gasped, and I tasted more blood. Dont try to smile Annie. It'l hurt. I scoffed. Like I dont know that. I looked around and saw Ray trying to undo the ropes. I knew how to do it. There was a weak spot near the knot. I pulled at it, and it gave way. I flexed my fingers, which were numb and rubbed my wrists. Noooo! How'd you do that? I smirked and found the weak spot on Ray's rope. He rolled his wrists around. "You okay?" He nodded.

I grunted when I was pushed to the wall by Dase. My head was knocked pretty hard on the wall and I felt an aching pain. I saw two as I watched Dase and Ray fight. I remembered my arrows that I hid when I explored here last night. I moved a file cabinet away and found my bow and arrow, untouched. I ran to Dase, thank God for Speed, and kicked him on the head. I heard a loud UGH as he hit the wall. I aimed my arrow for his heart. He was 3 feet away, and I heard the door open as students rushed in. They stopped as they saw me and Ray, all bloody, and Dase, his head lolling around. "Get back!" I barked. They all took a step back. I pulled the arrow, them let go. The arrow struck him and he slumped even more to the ground.

The students were all watching me when I fell to the ground.

I looked around at the whitened walls. "Where am I?" I looked over at Ray. "The infirmary. You killed Dase then fainted. I brung you here and as you can see, got a ton of gifts." I saw all the gifts, stacked on a table, and smiled. I got out of the bed and stood up. I was still in my jeans and t-shirt. I ran to Ray. "I'm sorry I got you into this," I breathed. He hugged me tighter. "Dont be sorry. We got into this together for a reason." He kissed me, then we walked out of the infirmary, me limping, and he helping.
