Popping Bubbles, Chapter 14

*AN* Yay! It's back!!! btw, i kinda wrote this  chapter as a bit of a space filler, but anyways---

The next day, Laura called Avery to tell her all about Project Wishlist.

"You remember the day you told homeroom about--it?" Laura asked, hesitating.

"Sure."

"Welllll...Macey called me after school that day--I wasn't there, remember?--and, well..."

Laura twisted her fingers in her lap.

"Since some of the stuff on the list is kinda expensive, we started a thing called Project Wishlist." Laura waited. Nothing came from Avery's end, so she catiously continued.

"And she told a buncha people about it, and then we gave a presentation to the whole school about you and the list and raising money from donations and stuff like that."

Laura was finished, biting her lip slightly. Avery wasn't about to be mad at her, was she?

"You started all that...for me?" Avery's voice sounded funny, like she had a sore throat.

"Yeah. Me and Macey."

"Just so I could complete my stupid list?"

"Yes."

Avery cleared her throat and kept smiling out her bedroom window.

Laura, her shy best friend, had started a project all for her. Just so she could do those ten lousy things she'd never actually expected to do.

"Laura?" She knew she sounded like a fog horn when she spoke, but didn't care.

"Yeah?" Laura's tone was gentle now.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."

Avery's eyes were brimming with tears by then, but her smile was brighter and bigger than ever.

"And Laura?"

"Yeah?"

" 'Love you."

Avery wasn't the only one crying anymore.
