Ah yes, the truth comes out!
Before you start calling me a hypocite, just let me say, that I was, sadly, obsessed with this book series for a matter of time... and now I'm not. And this is why...
To be perfectly honest, this is one of the most poorly written books in this time. The fact that it got a three, is just becuase I thought a 2 was to low and a 4 was to high.
To all those Max. Ride lovers, why do you like this book? Is it becuase of the adventure? It must be, becuase that's just what this book is: adventure. There are hardly any subplots (except romance, but that was very... sloppy) and tell me if there is any character development... tell me.
Okay, I'll start with the characters. To be honest, they're all unrealistic. And I'm not saying just because they have wings, their personalities are unrealistic. Max (I never liked her) is very shallow. She is all kick-but one moment and then all heart-felt the next. Perhaps her senario put her in this way, but still, it's very unrealistic. There are characters who really didn't fit, like Iggy and Total and Gazzy. Total was probably there for comic realif, and I'm still not sure why Iggy is there. Gazzy was there just to have another boy. All these characters were not very well-drawn, espically Gazzy. Angel was there to help them out a lot, a lot a lot and to show what Itex would do, even to a little 6 year old mind-reading girl who can breath under water. Fang was friend that the protagonist would have the bumpy time with and share it with and love intrest. Ari was another example of the school's influence. The fact that we don't know who the Flock are fighting against is a bit un-nerving and when we finally meet her, she seems to be all evil.
Then of course, there's the plot line! What a thin plot line it is! I mean there's some spots of depth, like the whole is Ari and good or bad guy complex and when he actually dies (I'm still fumming over that) and bunches of other things. And I know it tounches on some deep things like genetic testing and global warming, but the whole story is just glued together with two year old Elmer's Glue.
The way the narration goes is a bad choice. Throughout the first 3 books (the beginning of the 4th was so boring I couldn't finish it, so I just skipped to the end), Patterson always harped on (through Jeb/the Voice) about the big picture, and who's point of view did we get the story told by? A tramamtized, basised, sassy 14 year old. But this could also go the flip side as a more interesting POV.
That's all I have to say about the series. I mean it's okay not great like Warriors or something deep like Pendragon but it's not Where the Wild Things are.
In the end, you get to choose if you read it or not, I have no power over that.

wow. just because you hate
wow. just because you hate it doesn't mean you have to go make a whole speech on how much you think it sucks when really a lot of people like it and it is a good book. so uh yeah if you hate it so much why read it? why even review it if you hate it? also everybody has their opinions but i think you were very rude in insulting max ride lovers. i mean, i hate twilight but i don't go on and on about how bad it is do i. no offense meant to you kazel, i'm just saying pelase don't be mad.
and if i sounded mean i'm

Well I just found it
Well I just found it incredibly written by your emotions of hate for the book and not reasoning.
I've never read the book!
I've never read the book! Why don't you write a hate review of Twilight? That'll even it out.

I don't want to write a hate
I don't want to write a hate reveiw of Twilight. It would insult everybody who read it, and what's the point of reveiwing it if I don't like? Reveiwing a book is reccomending it. I wouldn't reccomend it, so why reveiw it?
Wh did you write this? We
Wh did you write this? We all remember the brandon/anna harry potter war! People have different opinions, and we know yours! It seemed like you almost just wanted to revive an old fight. I happen to like the books (though I thought the last one was AWFUL), but I respect your opinion enough not to challenge it. People have different tastes- and you have to respect ours too.

Still, come on! Writing a
Still, come on! Writing a book review is NOT recommending it! It's well, reviewing it! There are many bad reviews of books, like movies. And different reviews. I think Kazel wrote a good review, was not trying to start a fight, and got her point across. What's wrong with that? There are different reviews of different books. So, hers was a review leaning towards she didn't like it. Plus, it's not like she gave it a one! She gave it a three, and this is a good review. So what if you don't agree?

I agree with Zoe. On the
I agree with Zoe. On the description of Book Reviews, and I qoute, "...Read a good (or not so good) book lately? Post your review on KidPub!" As in, you can write what you want about this book! Any book. Sure, the consensus of most book reviews are probably good reviews, but do you know how many critics are paid big bucks to give the hardest reviews?? And not everybody loves these books. I don't! Granted I've never read these books, but I've checked them out to see, and they don't grab my interest! I personally think Kazel's review was extremely thorough. She described plot line, character depth and believability...everything I've been taught to pay attention to and to consider when reviewing a book. Honestly, this is the first review I've ever seen mentioning these things. I haven't read everyone, but still. Out of the ones I've seen. And Kazel didn't just write this out of hate. You can tell, cause she wouldn't have been able to focus on reasons why this books stinks! Y'know? I mean whenever we've had posts about the eneding of a really good series or something, people tend to disagree, and some people are practically writing jibberish they hate so much! Now, I am NOT, repeat, NOT trying to start a fight! Strictly opinion here, people!

Ok look! All of you! Kazel
Ok look! All of you! Kazel Didn't like it...It's not a big deal...review are not about recommending Heather and all others who thought that...reviews are for people to read other people's thoughts and then compare them to their own if you've read the book or figure out if you would like to read it from the other person's opinion. When you think about it...when you read between the lines of Maximum Ride you can see that it isn't James Patterson's best work. I have loved the books but Kazel is making me consider why i loved them so much about two years ago. Her review is well written and could win a prize in a contest. She explains everything to detail and give reasons for every freakin main idea...that's what you want to see in a book review! Heather, not trying to be rude or anything but you might want to read your first comment a few times and then think about why you posted it in the first place. If it sounded mean after you posted it...rewrite it so it doesn't sound mean to you...then it won't sound mean to everyone else. Not to sound all grown up here but I think you should really think about what you first said and then I would like to see you try to write a review with as much detail...I'm not trying to be mean because I know I can barely do a good one for school but before you critize something...think about if you can live up to the odds of you being asked to do the same...with the same quality and effort...I apologize if this offends anyone including you Heather but I have thought this over...and this is what I WANT to say...
Before I checked up on this
Before I checked up on this I was like "Ah! let the baraging begin!"
Thanks for all those who tried to defend me, I appreciate that, it makes me feel loved ;-). Thanks to those who thoguht it was a decent review. To Heather: It's OKAY, if I don't like a book, right? It's OKAY for you to like a book, right? So, we're cool, right? Or at least you're cool with me. To Claudia: I didn't write this to provoke any fight. I just wanted to get my opinoin out there! I'm just lucky I didn't get a jumping like Anna did. And Max, just becuase of my review, you don't HAVE to you know... stop loving Max. Ride... I'm still going to see the movie(does THAT make you feel better? or is just more a reason to believe I'm a hypocrite?)... if it ever comes out ;-)

Point 1. YOu can rant as much as you like. Yur life, not mine.
Point 2. I like them.
Point 3. James Patterson is published and your not.
Point 4. He is famous and your not. So really, who's better at writing? just saying.
Point 5. All the characters are very unique, and talented. just because you have never met someone like Max, doesn't mean she's unrealistic. you've just never incountered someone like her before.
Point 6. i recently tried to read Warriors. They sucked. Prehaps to get your point across, you should choose an example book of quality. Pendragon I've never read. Maybe something like Millenium snow, or The Luxe would have been more effective.

kay, Fanpire I'm just gonna say what we all truely love to say here....
IT'S HER OPINION!!! WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT ONES!!!
Kazel, may not be famous or widly published but that doesn't James Patterson a better writer.J.K. Rowling has made far more money then he has and she came up out of the blue...all our talents are never one who's better and whos worse...it's leveled on the audiences. I have a kid in my class at school who I personally wouldn't read if my life depended on it. But I asked him for the copy of the fairy tale he wrote for school and took it and read it to my cousins...they loved it...thought it was fabulous work and wanted me to keep reading it over and over again. The level James patterson is on compared to Kazel is different and she probably hoping to write for teens and young adults and James Patterson is almost strictly a adult writer. You may have loved them buit she didn't. She might like the movie better cause the writers are going to be different. We all have different dreams...Kazel's shouldn't be any different to ours to the regular eye but the audiences are far different.
And I agree with you about
And I agree with you about the last book. Honestly, I get enough "global warming" hype from the liberal media ans Barack Hussien Obama. I don't need it from someone who writes one of the only decent non-vamp books around!
And it only got good at the end. Loved Gazzy's new talent
Leah: He used to chew on the bars of his crib: Jacob: lead paint? Leah: looks like it.

Weighing in....
-I respect your opinion kazel, you have a right. I like them, you don't. Its not great literature, just fun.
-I don't really respect yours "fanpire".... Of COURSE james patterson is published- kazel's like 13! Thats not a very good point to make, plus its kind of mean.... And your comment about global warming- you acted like it wasn't true... do you not believe in global warming? Because its pretty much scientific fact....................... just my opinion.
