Prologue:
The tall attendant shook his head violently. Infuriated, the general leaped to his feet… only to be pulled down by three servants.
A young servant named Redhead soothingly probed the general’s forehead, “Do not fight, your fever will get worse.” The tall enemy attendant seemed to ignore this sudden turn of events but turned to speak with the general. His voice was rusty and cracked with anger, “I will not retreat or surrender until we get what we want. That’s the rule in Tagath,” with a sweep of his long gray cloak, the attendant was gone.
The three servants (Graynose, Jackerllight, and Redhead) darted after the attendant, intending to stop him. The general started to rise but was pulled down by another servant, the youngest named Graffy Taffy. The general was getting tired of his fever…

Chapter 1:
What Happened Before
The old horses were driven by four young servants. General Ollice was getting a bad fever, and the servants made the horses go ever so hastier. General Ollice was an old man with old cracks in his bones and was growing old himself, he mainly had these four servants to attend him. The servants are called, Graynose (the only boy) Jackerllight (the only adult woman) Redhead and Graffy Taffy (both sisters, Redhead being older was more polite and calm.) Graffy Taffy was used very rarely, to her dismay. Graynose held the rains and Jackerllight called the commands and Redhead and Graffy Taffy were back in the cart, soothing their master. General Ollice was on his way to death and a special meeting with an enemy attendant to discuss war! The servants had begged their master not to go, but he was determined and (very reluctantly) agreed. And they dreaded their master’s long waited death.

Chapter 2:
What Happened After
As Graynose, Jackellight, and Redhead charged out of the room, General Ollice drifted into an uneasy sleep. He had a dream that meant nothing but he knew it was telling him something. This is what he remembered:
A shadowy creature glided toward him. He screamed. Then he was young again, a sword blazing in his hand and he cried, “For Yurion and we will celebrate when Tagath is destroyed!”
Then a white ship floated over the dead bodies of his foes and taking their souls. At first he was frightened but then a sharp pain erupted in his neck and began to be lifted by the ship. He shouted at the top of his lungs, “NO!” But he was absorbed in the white, silver lashes of the ship’s silvery boards!
Ollice woke with a start to find he was sweating all over. Graynose was bent over, “”Tis okay, ‘twas a nightmare!” he whispered and Ollice fell back into slumber…

Chapter 3:
What Happened at the Start
Redhead, Graynose, and Jackerllight returned with some good news.
“Instead of fighting, the attendant agreed that there would be a race and the winner of this race would be the winner of the war,” reported Redhead. The general nodded, but in mid nod he drifted into sleep again.
“He will die soon,” said Graynose, abruptly, this startled them all.
“How do you know?” asked Graffy Taffy.
“I just know, Graff,”
“I think I will enter the race,” said Graynose and Redhead simultaneously. They glared at each other until Jackerllight said, “I think Redhead should enter, she has longer legs and a slimmer body, no offense to you, Graynose.” Graynose turned red and looked down at his feet.
“The race is tomorrow,” said Redhead. “I’d better sign in tonight…”

Chapter 4:
The Race
Ollice was not able to eat or drink the next morning, his body was too weak to even close his jaws. They tried to tell him about the race which he had forgotten but he could not even hear them. His head was like touching fire of the hottest kind. They carried his chair to the race grounds even though they knew he would not make it half- way through the race, his death was near. Redhead was nervous about the race, but when she heard that her boyfriend, Ray, was going to be there her spirits lightened. The race started early and Redhead was very tired but she tried to look like she got enough sleep. There were seventy-five racers in the race and Redhead was on of them.
‘Why on earth did I sign up?’ Redhead thought with dismay. ‘Tagath will win. Every single other person here is from Tagath and I am the only Yurion.’ Her heart rose when she found herself right behind the leader. But the Tagathans were cheaters. Laughing cruelly, the Tagathan kicked her - she shouted in pain and rage.
“Where is Redhead?” asked Graynose.
“She just tripped,” said Jackerllight.
“Shut-up guys,” said Graffy Taffy.
