"AAAH-CHOO!!!" Rachel sneezed and then wiped her nose. She then muttered uh...not so nice words under her breath.
"Ugh...why did my mom made me clean the stupid attic... it's not like there's anything valuable here, anyways..." Rachel muttered.
Rachel and her mother had gone back to their old home, and picked up anything that was left... of course, including the old stuff in the attic. Which Rachel's mom did not want to get. Which meant Rachel had to go get them. Which meant, in order to get the things, she needed to clean them. And since there were so many things, she just settled into cleaning the whole attic. How nice was that?
Rachel stumbled over a lot of artifacts while getting across the suffocating enclosure that was her attic. She then grabbed the broom she had brought, and started (painfully) sweeping the (disgusting and dusty) floor.

Rachel sighed, and sat down on the now (clean) floor. After 2 hours, she had managed to actually do it. (A/N: -.- not even I can...) After a few minutes of catching her breath, she started working on dusting the...things.
The first thing she decided to dust, were some old vases and the very delicate things. After she finished, she went on ahead unpack the things from the boxes stored at the deepest part of the attic.
When she got there, she opened the biggest box, and started unloading it. To her amazement, it was pictures of her grandmother as a child, and apparently her great-grandmother as well.
The minutes slowly turned into hours and Rachel realized how much time she wasted. She quickly put the pictures in a separate file, and continued searching. As soon as she put her hand back down in the box, she caught something smooth and slippery. She took it out and it turned out to be a beautiful engraved silver necklace with a diamond heart hanging delicately from it.
She carefully took the necklace onto her palms, as if afraid it was going to break, and pulled it up completely. But to her immense surprise and delight, there was a wrinkly, yellow, note. Folded neatly and looked as if it was more than 80 years old. She shakingly opened the letter, and started reading the neatly written message.
---
To my dearest granddaughter, Rachel, if you're reading this, then i am pretty sure i'm dead at this time. I am your grandmother , Thalia, and i'm so very sorry i never got to meet you. As you can see,, the necklace that is attached to this letter belonged to your great grandmother, and then it was passed on to me.. I rhink it's time someone else received the family heirloom , and if you haven't figured it out already , it's you.. Your mother abandoned me before i even presented her of this beauty ,so automatically i thought of you .This necklace is very special , and it has had many secrets . Inside the same box you found this in , lays your great grandmother's diary . I want you to read it and understand more about her . Ever wonder why your mother dislikes you so much ? Well , you are the exact mirror image of your great grandmother , Miranda . Please don't hate her when you start reading her diary . You will soon learn throughout the story that she was actually a kind hearted person. I regret not ever knowing you , but i will always watch over you in heaven. With lots of love,
Your adoring grandma Thalia. --- Rachel's P.O.V
I felt myself go numb at the newfound information.
'my mom hated me...for this? because i look like my great grandmother..?'
I touched the sides of my face, and was surprised to see tears dripping down. I clutched the letter tightly to my chest and closed my eyes. I always imagined to myself that the reason she hated me was because i wasn't good enough for her. But this? This was simply unbelievable.
I hastily shook my head from all bad thoughts and grabbed the diary from the box. After one last look at the attic, i rushed outside and closed the door with a 'click'.
