Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo

This book is a little lackluster.  There was a great premise, but it wasn't executed very well.  It's about a boy named Leven who discovers that he is the last living relative of the creator of the gateway to Foo, which is a place that provides dreams and hopes for mankind. An evil man named Sabine is trying to find the gateway so he can rule both Earth and Foo.  Leven and his friends must destroy the gateway before Sabine finds it, or all hope will be lost.  Literally.

All in all, it's fine if you have nothing better to read.  But I have no desire to read the sequels.
