AN: You might want to go back to Chapter 3 to reread some names...
A straight poker face is the way to describe it. A one that looks like a cold hard cement gargoyle. It was one of those looks that described no feeling but an amazing amount of feeling all at once.
“Jacqui?” I said. I waited for a reply but the only thing I heard was those camp songs.
I knew what she was thinking. I don’t know how, but I did. I knew it like my name. Pure and positive.

“Jacqui, I know you’re mad. But we need to get Laya,” I said. I stared into her blank eyes.
She came out of her trance. “Yes!” She dashed off to Claur. She was sitting in the circle of people, right on the edge.
Jacqui walked up to her. “Claur?”
No reply.
“Excuse me, Claur?” she repeated.
Still no answer.
“Claur?” She screamed.
She didn’t even look up. Jacqui pushed her into the lake.
“Urg!” she growled. Claur popped her head up. “Jacquelyn Josie! You shall never push anyone into the lake like that! Especially in the middle of “Round the Roses”!”
Jacqui looked from me to Claur. “Well Aspen did it to me,” she said tauntingly. “Now where’s Candida?”
“Over there, honey,” She pointed to her sitting at a tree by the other end of the camp reading and Jacqui trotted off. Claur looked at her for a couple seconds the abruptly changed her focus to me. “Aspen Brendin! Dear Lord where have you been?”
I opened my mouth to answer but nothing came out except “Uh…I…um…huh…”
Catalina Whike stood up. “She snuck away.”
“Wait…what? How did you kn…I mean…no I didn’t!” I was aggravated! The whole camp probably knew!
“Yes you did!” Angelina stood up and said. “With my sister.”
“Laya’s your…really?” I gasped.
“Yeah. We look nothing alike…I can’t even believe you like that looser. You must be one yourself.”
I glared at her. “Wait Laya is not a looser!”
“Oh girls, please! Now where is that girl?” Margret said.
“She’s in the woods, sick too. It’s about a fifty mile walk. It took me and Jacqui three weeks with stops.” I shrugged.
“Margret, you go with Jacqui and Aspen to find her in one of the golf carts!” Claur demanded.
Jacqui heard that. “Can Candida come?”
“Yes let’s go!”
We got in the cart and off we were.

Wow, this is as amazing as ever! The short lines add a certain emphasis to the story, and the longer lines add a certain depth to it! Brilliant chapter, once again, Vanessa!
