Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

So I finished it, at this late time of 1:37 A.M. I’d been reading since six o’clock this morning, and I am proud of myself for finally finishing the book that I had anticipated from the start – from Twilight, my favorite book in the series behind Breaking Dawn, to New Moon – in which Stephenie expressed human hurt in a way I had not thought possible with words; and ending with Eclipse, in which romance intertwined with my adrenaline pumping as I read to create a powerful book like none other.

I’d been hearing a lot of stuff about Bella.

Bella’s soooooo whiny, people kept on saying, soooooo weak. Seriously, Stephenie Meyer SUCKS.

I, honestly, don’t know what the hell you were on when you wrote that – because I wholly disagree.

Bella, while having and suffering through having Renesmee, was whiny, and I recognize that. But overall – she shows a lot about humans in dire circumstances. While being in so much pain, don’t doubt that you might have been whiny too, because we all know you’d be. But in the end, in that clearing – facing the Volturi – Bella was the strongest I’d ever seen her. She overcame her fear and weakness, creating a shield that saved everybody’s lives. In the end, she was the person to save the day, instead of her superhero, Edward. She gave her best, and her best was enough, if not more. And I don’t call that weak.

Secondly, another claim.

Bella’s addicted to sex!

Oh, get over it. This part just annoys me. Heck – (a point that Anna made in a response to Maron’s post) if you were a hormonal eighteen year old and you had this godly man that loved you at your fingertips… We all know what you’d do.

            You’d be just like Bella.

Bella and Edward have eternity together. They have eternity to do the things they want to do – and if that involved sex, then so it does. It’s kind of immature coming from a lot of teenagers that I know. And they’re married! It’s not like they’re ‘doing it’ out of wedlock! It’s perfectly legal, if you ask me.

Then, this next complaint is a duel combo – from the naming of Renesmee to Stephenie Meyer herself.

Renesmee – I get it.

Not the most perfect name in the book – but that’s what I like about it. It’s not in the book – its completely original. And as a writer myself, I know that going through a book or website with names on it doesn’t help that much. You need for the name to fit the person – and Renesmee fit the case in point. You can’t imagine her as a Sarah, or as a Rebekah. Because her name IS Renesmee. And it will always be Renesmee.

[And in the end, Bella calls her Nessie too. So, yeah, suck that.]

And lastly – the writing of Stephenie Meyer. All of you say you despise this book and this author now for how it turned out. Sure – you didn’t like Bella. Okay – fine, you didn’t like how Jacob was her best friend, not lover. That’s okay. You can deal with that! But it takes strength, perseverance and a whole lot of courage to come up with a plot that you think will work, and not listen to the rest of the world telling you what to do. In the end, the book kept you reading. Like it did from the start. Stephenie didn’t want to make you love the characters. You didn’t have to. That’s not her job.

Her job is to come out with a great book – and I think she did damn well with that.

This is why I give Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer a 10 out of 10 for her outstanding work on a series that has captured millions.

i havent read it yet, but

i havent read it yet, but you've put a whole neew perspective on what i think the book will be like... great job in persuading your own way :)

Alice: "No one will dare to call you plain when I'm through with you." Bella: "Only because they're afraid you'll suck their blood."

I do agree, and I feel bad

I do agree, and I feel bad for trashing Stephenie Meyer. My main annoyance is that I feel like Stephenie Meyer wrote the Host, knowing that it didn't matter what Breaking Dawn was like because we'd /all/ buy it.

I also feel like that was the only plot she could go on.

But I do wish there was no Renesmee. I wish that there was a fight with the Volturi.

Ask me about my alter ego, Harper Waddle!
