Victim By Default: A Poem

Victim By Default

I strum a cord without a sound

Loving the calm before the storm

The piano hums a violent lullaby

So sour till its sweet

The violin falters in its torture

You listen and relate

To wander out to live a fantasy

You pack your records and guitar

You never liked tress anyway

Why should your family be involved

Things are better when you’re rootless

The spirits are free

The water’s warm

All I hear is low deep breathing

All you know is barely getting by

All they see are notes on paper

Copy paste and then rewind

Now I’m wondering where you’re heading

Now I’m seeing your road end

Now I’m killing for a second

To waste away an hour

To make you fork another bend

You’re leaving

In fact you’re already gone

You’re somewhere

But somewhere is floating along

You’re leaving

And you’re hasty to hold on

You’re here with me

With everything I can give

Take the another test

Fake another mindless soul

Wait awhile inside my memory

Of you

Just Be

Let me be

So pack your bags

I’m rather empty anyhow

Just leave you baggage at my door
