“Hmmm...mmm. Hmmmm...mmm.” Lacey sang as she waved her hand in front of my face.

Lacey, stop.” I laughed. I slapped her hand away.

When are we going to get in the room?” Lacey was always a little impatient.

"Just about,” I took the room key and unlocked the door. “Now.”

“Yes! Finally! This is my first official day in room 804!” Lacey pushed open the door.

“Wow.” I marveled at the hotel room. On the left side, there was a small kitchen. On the right side, there were doors to the bedrooms.

“This is so cool!” Lacey exclaimed as she pushed the giant cart into the living room. I followed her there. We began to unpack our luggage.

“So when are your parents going to get here?” Lacey asked me.

“Real soon.” I responded. My face scrunched when I lifted my suitcase out of the cart. What did I put in there?!

Lacey walked over to the television, turned it on, and pushed some buttons. She looked at the screen. She pushed more buttons, and Disney Channel was on.

There was a knock at the door. I slowly walked toward the door. It could have been some freak.

"Who’s there?” I said. I pressed my ear onto the door.

“It’s just us, Randi.” There was my mom’s milk-and -honey voice. I knew it was her, so I flung open the door.

"How’s the unpacking going?” My dad asked us. Neither of us answered to his call. We just ignored him.

“Girls,” My mom tried to get our attention. “Take your things, and take care of them in that bedroom.” She pointed to the door of our bedroom.

I lugged my suitcase, my purse, my backpack, and some other miscellaneous things with me. I ran into the room as fast as I could. Right after I entered the room, I tripped, and all my luggage went flying. It was hard to get up, considering a large suitcase was covering me.

“Randi? Where are - eeeep!” Lacey tripped on something. We looked at each other. For a few seconds, we were completely silent. Then, we burst out into a fit of giggles as we stood up.

“What was that?” My mom called to us.

“Nothing.” I smiled slightly. I lifted my suitcase, and dropped it on a bed. When my suitcase dropped from my hands, it gave a satisfying plop!

Before unpacking my clothes, I took a CD out of my backpack. I carried the CD over to the DVD player, and put it in the disk spot. A small smile spread across my face (again) and I turned on the television.

Lacey spun her head around when the song Losing Grip by Avril Lavingne started to play. She started to sing along to it. Lacey was a marvelous singer. I thought that Lacey sounded like a singing pro.

Even though our bags were filled up to the top, it didn’t take too long to unpack. It might be because Lacey and I are really fast workers.

When I looked at Lacey’s suitcase, I thought I saw a white paper crumpled up in there. I looked at the paper again. Something was definitely there.

“Hey, what’s that?” I leaned over and took the paper. There was a note. Messy handwriting was stretching across the paper. It read:

“Ran De , do you know where to get those sparkly purses? I want one! They’re sooooo pretty!!”

“Oh, so that’s where I put it!” Lacey exclaimed. “Where can I find them?”

“Honestly, I don’t know. Maybe Bon Ton or Macy’s.” I answered.

“I’ll look. But-”

“Girls, it’s time to eat!” My mom cut Lacey off. Lacey and I ran out into the dining room. I saw a bowl of Progresso Vegetable soup at my seat. I eyed the soup hungrily, and dove my spoon into it.

Soon, Lacey and I were back in our room. I looked at the digital clock. 9:31. I changed into my pajamas, and Lacey did the same.

“I’ll be right back.” I said to Lacey. I quickly ran into the kitchen, and got two Drumstick ice cream cones.

“Hola. It’s me again.” I gave Lacey one of the cones.

“I put Ella Enchanted in the DVD player.” Lacey pressed the play button the remote control.

I turned my head, and noticed that Lacey was fast asleep. Her hair was flying in many directions, and she was in a strange position.

"Lacey! La-ce! Lace?” She didn’t answer. I turned my head back, and I began to feel sleepy. In a few seconds, I was asleep.
* * * *

“Really?” Lacey and I asked in unison.

“Yes. Really.” My mom assured us.

“Um, I didn’t understand what you said. Tell the story again and in smaller words.” I advised her.

“Sure, honey. Some people were having a loud party in the hotel room above us. I went out on the balcony and asked them to turn down the noise a little. A lady up there said some things to me that I can’t repeat to you.”

“Oh, I get it now.” Lacey said.

My mom stood up. “Girls, I’m going to the grocery store. I’ll be back very soon.” She ran off, grabbed my dad’s hand, and pulled him out of the room with her.

After they left, Lacey and I walked out onto the balcony. I looked down at the sand and the ocean. I couldn’t wait to get to the beach. The ocean mist squirted my face lightly.

Lacey bent down, and picked up something. “Look, a credit card! We should give it to the-”

BANG! There was somebody knocking on the balcony above us. A person poked his head out of the balcony railing. Lacey and I looked up at him. He must have been at least one year older than us.

“Hi. My dad dropped his credit card. Do you have it?” He asked us.

“Yeah, we do.” I held it up.

“Okay. I’ll come down to your room and get it. By the way, I’m David.”

“Well, I’m Randi, and this is Lacey.” I informed him.

“I’ll be down soon.” David left the balcony.

“I LOVE OCEAN CITY MARYLAND!” Lacey squealed as we walked back inside.

“I do too!” I squealed back.

After a few minutes, there was a knock at the door.

“Hi. Remember me?” David said.

“Here’s the card.” I gave it to him.

My dad also dropped his driver’s license. Do you have it?”

“Sorry, we don’t.” Lacey replied.

“I have to go find it. Bye.” David left, and closed the door behind him.

Not too long after that, my parents came back. Lacey and I didn’t bother to tell them about David.

“So, did you do anything interesting while we were gone?” My mom was struggling to carry the grocery bags. I took a few bags from her, and set them down in the kitchen.

Lacey and I exchanged glances. “No.” I answered.

“Nothing.” Lacey added.

After half an hour, we all walked down to the beach. When we arrived on the beach, I put my things down, and ran into the ocean.

“Ow, ow, ow! “ The sand was scorching my feet. “Ahhhh.” My feet landed the refreshing wet sand. Lacey ran up to me. Together, we walked deeper into the ocean.

“Cold! Cold!” Lacey shrieked. A large wave blasted us forward. Both of us squealed really loud.

“It’s not as cold now.” I thought out loud. We stayed in the ocean for a while until my parents called us onto the sand.

Lacey and I made a large sandcastle. It had a moat, and small windows. We even put in seashells as decoration! Before we had to leave, Lacey and I swam in the ocean a little longer.

All of us left the beach, and walked back to our hotel. We took the elevator to floor eight, and once again, our adventures in room 804 began.

We already ate dinner, and I was going to take a shower. In five minutes, my shower was done. I put on my bathrobe, and walked into my bedroom.
L
acey looked up at me, and then looked back down at the money she was counting. “I never realized my parents gave me two hundred fifthteen dollars.” She said.

I changed into a tank top and shorts, and sat down on my bed. I opened my mouth to say something, but it was blocked out by a BOOM! CRACK! BOOM! CRUNCH!

“Was that you, Randi?” Lacey tried to say in her fit of giggles.

“No.”

“Then what’s it coming from?”

“I think the roof.”

“Weird.” Lacey ran out of the room.

“Wait! Lacey! Where are you going?”

“To the balcony!”

“Huh? Whatever.” I still sat there, waiting for Lacey to come back.
Eventually, Lacey came back. “There’s construction on the roof.” She informed me.

“Oh.” I said.

“I asked them if they could be a little quieter, and they got louder!” Lacey explained.

“That’s weird.” I tried to picture guys on the roof, but it was hard.

My mom came into our room. “Girls, go to sleep.” she told us.

When she left, I took the the television remote, and turned on Disney Channel. I covered myself with the blanket, and rolled on my right side. There was an end table there, and on the end table there was our schedule for the rest of the week. It read:

Monday: Beach, mini golf & dinner at Ember’s
Tuesday: Beach, party at Julie’s
Wednesday: Beach, breakfast at Bayside Skilltet, dinner at Phillip’s
Thursday: Beach, boardwalk and Trimper’s Amusement Park
Friday: Beach, mini golf at Temple of Doom
Saturday: Go home

I was in for a great week. As I went to sleep, I thought about everything I’d do. I can’t wait for my next vacation to Memphis!
