The two boys stood at the foot of the massive Nosoul. Haxek stared at the clouds, which were now pitch black, almost like the clouds was never there. Krome looked at the monster in front of him and clenched his fists. He knew, like his friend Haxek, this would not be an easy battle at all.
"Haxek," said Krome in a confused manner. "What the heck is happening? You get this sword, Melanie's gone, and some guy in a black robe with white and black hair? And this monster? Tell me!" Krome looked at Haxek. He pointed at Haxek and his face grew a frown. "Tell me now."
"Well, you know that the clouds first darkened," he said. He looked up at the sky once more and then lowered his head. "I found Melanie to make sure she was all right, because everyone had vanished. I told her to hide, and she listened. Then I went to see if you were okay, and I ended up finding some weird black things. They just kept coming out from the ground, attacking me. I tried to combat them, and I couldn't. Then you came. We fought them off. You know that. Now that I knew you were fine, I told you to go check up on Melanie while I fought the creatures. As soon as you left, I realized I was unable to defeat them. They piled on top of me and soon I felt myself weakening. Then, this blue light appeared around me, the creature's evaporated, and I had this sword in my hand. There was a voice in my head saying I must use the sword, the SoulBlade, to defeat the Dark One. The Dark One was really the man trying to kidnap Melanie. I had met this man before in the center of town. I talked to him, and he gave me clues to why I must defeat him. Raikos was his name, and he told me about the Nosouls, the little black creatures that we attacked. And he also told me about his secret organization, Excessum, who he had found six members to join. They seem as evil as him, but how should I know? I have only met the most villainous member and the leader. He hardly told me anything at all. He also said that in order to create a Nosoul, you must remove the soul of a being and it will transform into a monster. The strength of the monster will differ depending on how strong the removed soul was. He pretty much meant that a Nosoul was once a human. He built an army of the Nosouls and attacked Armonia. He also was a studier of the soul. He told me a lot, so now I know why I am so important to Armonia. And I finally know what happened to the citizens of Freedom Town. . .Raikos took their souls away and turned them into the Nosouls WE killed."
"So we aren't messing with a guy who thinks he's powerful," said Krome, finally understanding what was happening. "Why wasn't I chosen to wield that sword?!" He looked at Haxek while he clenched his fists.
Haxek stared at the monster in front of him. He then looked at Krome, giving him a stare that seemed like it was telling him to be quiet.
"Fine," said an angered Krome. "Just go save the world while I use this stick that does nothing." He was clearly angry, and was wondering why Haxek's soul was chosen to use the SoulBlade. Krome was a better fighter and was faster than Haxek. But why did Haxek be chosen to wield the mighty sword? He decided it was better left forgotten then to have it bother him.
"Quickly, we must get to the Nosoul's foot and climb up to its head," whispered Haxek. "If it notices us we'll most likely die. Just look at the huge arms on that thing!" He pointed at the Nosoul in front of him. Its whole body was as black as night, except for its large yellow eyes. Its arms looked like large tentacles that seemed to wriggle around uncontrolably. On its chest was a grey-black symbol. The symbol was a diamond with an 'x' going through it. It had tentacles coming out from its head. Its shoulder were very wide, and its legs were no exception either. This thing was a true colossus.
Haxek knew he would be unable to climb and hold onto the SoulBlade at the same time. He decided it would be best if he actually did carry it along, so he could stick it in the monster's arm and hang on to it for support.
Haxek headed towards the Nosoul's foot and began to climb up it. Krome followed behind him. They kept climbing until the reached the hip of the monster. From there, they grabbed onto the arm of the beast and hung on tight. If Krome and Haxek did not hold on with all of their might, the beast's rapidly moving arms would flip the boys off of it and send them flying to the ground, killing them.
After holding on for a few seconds, Haxek started to climb up the beast's arm, trying to reach the head to deliver a nasty blow to it. He slowly climbed his way to the top. Once he reached the top of the arm, he jumped up into the air and landed on the massive shoulder. He waited for Krome before he started attacking the monster.
Krome struggled to reach the top. With the arm moving so fast, he was having trouble holding on. Haxek noticed that Krome's hands were slipping. He jumped off of the shoulder and quickly grabbed onto the part of the arm Krome was hanging onto.
"Go! Forget about me! You can't drag me up this thing!" screamed Krome. He looked at his friend who was hanging right next to him.
"No," replied Haxek. "You are my best friend and I can't afford to lose you now. C'mon. Let's get to the top of this Nosoul and destroy it." He reached out his hand and grabbed Krome's arm. He pushed with all of his might and Krome was sent flying into the air. He landed on top of the Nosoul's head.
Haxek was beginning to slip. When he grabbed Krome with his hand his balance was knocked off. He tried to yank himself up the arm, but found he was out of strength. He let go of the Nosoul's arm and began to fall down to the ground. Once he was near the bottom of the arm, he dug the SoulBlade into the beast's arm and held on tightly. He slowly began to climb, sticking the sword into the beast's arm and pulling himself up.
Once he was near the top of the arm, he stuck the SoulBlade into the arm once more and climbed on top of it. He then stood up and prepared to jump onto the Nosoul's shoulder. Haxek launched himself into the air and landed right where he wanted to. He bent down and grabbed the SoulBlade, which was still stuck inside of the arm.
Now that Haxek was reunited with his friend, he gripped the sword tightly and prepared to swing at the Nosoul. He then raised the SoulBlade into the air and began to hack away at the neck of the giant beast. The black vapor that Haxek had seen earlier appeared, even though the monster's neck was still there.
"So, I guess that whenever I hit a Nosoul, that black vapor appears, even though that doesn't mean it has to vanish. That's just indicating you've damaged it," said Haxek to himself. He rapidly started attacking the neck until the beast turned its head. It looked at Haxek with its huge yellow eyes. It seemed angry. . .very angry.
The Nosoul shook its head and Krome fell off of it. He hit Haxek when he landed on the Nosoul's shoulder and both of them fell down. Next, the Nosoul moved its shoulder up and down, knocking Haxek and Krome off of it. The two boys were sent straight to the ground, a fall that would kill them.
Haxek grabbed onto Krome's forearm and held on tightly. While he was falling, he stuck the SoulBlade into the Nosoul's arm, so when he would continue to fall, he would slice open the Nosoul's arm. Haxek was also hoping this would prevent him and Krome from dropping to quickly to the ground and dying.
His plan worked. Once Haxek reached the end of the Nosoul's arm, the arm was extremely damaged. The other part of his plan also worked. Once Haxek was at the end of its arm, he had stopped enough to the point where he could jump off without getting him and Krome killed. He let go of Krome, who immdediatly jumped off and landed on the ground with only the slightest injuries. Next followed Haxek. The two boys were determined to think of a new way of taking down this behemoth.
"So, what'll we do?" asked Krome with a frightened look upon his face.
"We wait until it attacks," replied Haxek, staring at the Nosoul. "That way, it will attack with its arms, meaning it will try to hit us with them. They will hit the ground while we dodge, and then we run up the arm and it makes the process a whole lot easier."
Krome nodded. "I probably can't say much more than 'Good work'. I wish I could say something else though."
"So. Now we wait."
"When? When will it attack us?" asked Krome.
Haxek looked at Krome with a frown. He shook his head. "I don't know. But we could act as a decoy. Since you are faster, you run up to it and run around frantically. Then you lead it back here and we will make it attack us. We'll dodge, and then you know the rest."
Krome nodded his head. He started heading in the Nosoul's direction and stopped once he was at its feet. "Hey, mister! Down here!" screamed Krome. He started to run around in large circles while the Nosoul slowly chased after him. Krome soon led him back to where Haxek was standing, just like their plan.
"All right, Krome! Get ready to start running again!" yelled Haxek. He gripped the SoulBlade tightly and pointed it at the Nosoul.
"Got it!" yelled Krome. He jumped and landed at Haxek's side. "We better hurry! This thing's getting closer!"
Haxek pointed behind him, telling Krome to run behind while he stood as a decoy. Krome listened, and ran behind Haxek. The Nosoul raised its arms and quickly dropped them to the ground as if it were a hammer. Haxek jumped away from the attack. The Nosoul's arms crashed to the ground, and would not move. The Nosoul was immobile for just a few seconds--and those few seconds were the only chance for Haxek and Krome to destroy this gigantic monster.
