Here's a little something I did a few years back.. can't believe I still have this ol thang.....
As I gazed upon the beautiful scenery of the lake, a lone fisherman cast his long pole.
The waves rocked him, gently, back and forth. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly, as he waited for a bite.
The sun set on the gorgeous water, like a massive ball of fire quietly slipping downwards, ready to collide with its disfigured reflection in the wet amberish glow of the majestic lake. The sound of a mocking bird, calling out its magical song could be heard in the distance. Scattered about the enormous waters; the echo of the waves striking the large rocks could be noticed as well.
With the day ending upon itself; the sun falling closer to its own image in the glossy, mirror-like water, the smell of pinewood and oak filled the thickness of the hazy air.
In addition to this scent, there came a great smell of catfish into the atmosphere, as the man packed his belongings and paced past me.
His old wrinkled face turned back toward me. The man held a small tackle box that added weight to his right hand.
In his left, he held his sturdy pole. And beneath his arm, tucked under his pit, was his net.
As he marched confidently by, he nodded at me as if to say, “G’night.” Or “Evenin’.”
I smiled back and looked, again, towards the glorious scenery.
As a chill ran up my back, I had realized a light, frosty wind had informed me that winter was fast approaching. I sighed deeply, and hiked back to my truck.
With one last glance, I thanked God for his gift to me; life. Then I drove away very pleased.
