the water below

i was walking up the steps, my heart pounding.
okay, before i go into the detail of my dreaded, and feared water slide experience,
let me go backward. rewind, go into the past, whatever you want to call it! i was at the water park with my friend, er brother, his friend, and my friend's brother's friend's friend. confusing, right? my friends were all trying to convince me that "water slides are fun!" or "don't be a baby!" (that was her brother.) i quickly made up an excuse and said,"i
want to get warm first. i will get in the pool." so they shrugged and just went by temselves up (what it seemed like to me) the huge slide.

i began to get bored of floating in the pool, and also began to get lonel. i began to think the others were crazy. who in their right mind wold want to spend the whole time going down terrifying slides? i thought.

it wasn't that i was afraid, i just was worried. i was afraid that i would fall off the slide, or flip over the wrong way on my back and not know when i was going to land in the water and not hold my breath in time. okay, a little afraid. not ALOT, but a little.

i began to get REALLY ored now. i sighed and looked up to see meredith,(my friend)
start pushing her self down the slide, and finally letting out "woo hoo!"" as she hit the water below her.
strangely, i felt the urge to try it. i thought i could sneak around without the others seeing me(i didn't want them to tell me to go on the even bigger slide.) . but i couldn't. Meredith caught me and we went up to the top of the slightly smaller slide together. "now if your a little scared," Meredith said."you can go down with me." now i felt even more scared for some reason. i nodded and we sat down on the top of the slide. the tension was building up inside me. i closed my eyes, but i quickly opened them in case someone pushed me from behind. he lifeguard was sitting nearby. she saw us sitting down, and took a seat in her little chair beside the slide.i noticed the water running from behind we on the slide. i thought i was dumb because for a second i thought the slide was leaking. i decided not to push myself and go fast the first time. the life guard said,"go ahead" and i pushed off before Meredith. i did not push myself like Meredith was next to me. u then i realized i was barely moving, so reluctantly pushed myself. it felt fun, so i kept pushing and pushing and finally, i realized, just before i reached the water, i had forgot to hold my breath. i quickly held it just as i plunged in to the water. i pushed off from the slide and swam over o the stairs. " lets do that again!" i said to Meredith. she just smiled.
