From Royalty to Commonness ~Chapter 8 ~

Chapter 8:

She knelt in front of the casket, probing her mind for something to say. After all, what could she say to a man she never knew?
Finally she found something. “Dear Mr. – ”, not knowing the man’s name she stopped.

“I may not know you – but your loss is too great for this family. You have a wonderful family. A family I never had.
If I was the cause of your death, please forgive me…
Hope you have a peaceful time in the other world…” and she stopped – she could not help feeling the last sentence was kind of stupid. She had nothing else to say and she stood up and went back to the circle of people that was surrounding.

Today was the funeral of the father of the Peterson family. It was a quiet one and everyone was silent and/or crying.
Next it was Josephine’s turn to say a few words (or thoughts – like Julie did) and as she stepped up, Annabel (a.k.a. Julie) thought, “This is the saddest funeral I have been to……… including all those pomp and fashionable party-like stuff that I have gone to when I WAS a Princess… which were really NOT funerals.”

One more sad thought entered her mind.
“This is the real thing…”
