Chapter 11:
She spun round. A girl with blackish-brown hair tied into funny pigtails was right behind her, seated on a seat to her right.
The blonde patted the seat next to her and with a smile, Julie sat, placing her luggage near her feet.
“Hi – I’m new”
“Hello, call me Julie”
“So… how long have you been in this school?”
Julie thought hurriedly and guessed at a white lie.
“As long as I can remember”
“What grade are you in?”
“Eight, and you?”
“Six”
“Oh my sister, Josephine, is in the sixth, too. You must know her…?”
“Josie? Josie Peterson, you mean? Yeah – she’s a friend”.
The bus screeched to a halt and all the students stood up; making the bus look crowded.
As Julie stood up nervously and swung her bag over her shoulder, she remembered and asked, “Hey, what’s your name?”
The girl grinned and replied in her cheery voice: the answer stung Julie like a bee would do to you.
“Cassandra Sander”
