Chapter 16:
How could it be? Miss Annabel Wayne Charms would NEVER get anything lesser than being 1st place in EVERYTHING?!
Not that, Annabel would compete against other people – it was only her and her tutor, Miss Sander.
And whenever she was given a worksheet, or test or ANYTHING concerned with studies – she’d definitely get an A+ or an 100/100 score.
Never in her life had she seen something else other than the normal ‘1st place’ position. It seemed as if Julie (a.k.a Annabel) would never utter a single word again, as she complemented what she had heard.
But of course, just as suddenly a thought occurred in her clever head. Could it be that – the REAL Julie was terrible at studies? So that would explain why she was 7th (“7TH!!!”) in the class…
Feeling relieved that she wasn’t a stupid, Julie forced out a smile. Mr. Hamilton smiled back and said, “Well, I’ve got to get going now, Miss Peter – I’ll see you in class today, I think – oh, yes I’ve got going on to the 8th graders”.
And with that he hurried off in Julie’s wake.
What’s that supposed to mean – ‘I’ve got going on to the 8th graders’ – it doesn’t make sense, she thought as she unknowingly walked, students chatter-chattering around her.
Realizing once again she didn’t know how to find her way, she felt like boxing her ears as to not ask that ‘Mr. Hamilton’ teacher. For heaven sakes, I could have asked him and get this over with, she thought groaning.
Suddenly, there was a very loud bell – ringing out so loud – and all the students started to hurry, some pushing, some nudging Julie out of they way. She noticed all of them were heading the same direction they all were going down to, obviously, the ground floor.
So, she followed.
