Juni Sevista rode her sea foam green
bike up the long concrete ramp the Wana Wana burger grill .Her mother Amelia worked there as a chef. Ana went to culinary school in Corpus Christi .She married Tomas Sevista and settled in South Padre Island and was hired as a chef at the Wana Wana burger Grill. As Juni got close to the ocean she could smell the saltiness in the water and the oiliness in the sunscreen.
“Do you have any crusts for lulu?” Juni asked her mother over the racket of sizzling fries and burger flipping.
“Yes I have crusts for lulu and baby sitting for you!!”
Juni was agitated! Her mother knew Sunday was the only day she had alone!!
Juni’s mother made her baby sit Carissa, but Juni started to the beach. Between two jobs three kids and making ends meet sometimes the Charlton’s needed some help.
Juni ran across the splintered deck, grabbed her mask and snorkel from the employees only closet, and felt her tired feet sink slowly in the sand. She traveled about 1 mile and swan out to the 3rd sand bar. Suddenly a pudgy blob of silver emerged from the depts. Lulu my favorite dolphin thought Juni. Juni pulled out the greasy crusts and lulu devoured them. They swam along side each other and then Juni decided it was time to go.
Juni ran down stairs, picked up her back pack, and rushed out side to the chick yellow dilapidated school bus.
“Hey,” greeted Juni’s friend Madison. “What’s up?”
“Nothing,”
Juni glanced over her shoulder and saw Nicole Lobwood (a.k.a Nicole Snobwood rich girl) with her frozen Antarctic stare.
“Don’t look Nicole’s staring at us,” Hushed Juni.
Nicole walked over to Madison and Juni.
“My Dad’s gonna close your mom’s Wana be Fat burger Grill and there’s nothing your little Mexican self can do about it.”
Nicole’s words stung Juni’s ears like the rubbing alcohol her mother put in her ears when she had swimmers ear. Juni didn’t dare to tell her it was Hispanic not Mexican in fear of getting hit in the face.
“What if she’s lying?” asked Madison
“I don’t know but come to my house at 5:15. I have a plan.”
Sure enough, Nicole wasn’t lying and the grill was bored up with scraps of wood. But Juni was well prepared. That Tuesday night Juni and Madison went around town and hung fliers every where.

Next Saturday there was a huge turn out! At 11:00 Mrs. Sevista, Juni and Madison came to Pelican Harbor and set up sign up stand. At 11:30 sharp at least 20 people came and put there name on the list. Juni hopped in the water with grilled cheese crusts and called lulu’s name. Soon a sliver of gray appeared above the avocado shell looking water. Lulu jumped and leaped out of the water. The first costumers where tourists from Louisiana who where visiting their grand kids. Then some kids from Juni’s school. After that was Mr.Lobwood himself! He smiled an evil villain smile, like a teacher who’s so old and had evil eyed so many poor innocent children her eyes go stuck like that. To make it worse Mr. Lobwood just paid. Not any thing else. Just paid. Juni wanted to scream. Just because he owned the business that she was trying to get back in business that he had put out of business, it wasn’t charity!!
“We’ll show him!” thought Juni.
At the end of the fundraiser the pair had made over 500$. This was enough for Mr. Lobwood not to notice. Everyone loved the Wana Wana burger grill; it was a main tourist attraction! Soon the business at Wana Wana burger grill was booming again and Juni was a hero!
