After Tom had joined his friends, Miria popped up once more. She saw nothing but the fallen palm trees and heard Tom and company. She sighed. She wished she could see them. She swam a little closer to the shore. She swam until she felt her tail hitting the sandy bottom. Then, she swam home to recollect her thoughts on the event.

That night, Miria was up for half of the night. The other half was wonderful dreams about Tom. They were together on the Island. Miria was a human, in a silvery blue dress and delicate legs. They walked hand in hand along the Lake. Dream-Miria was smiling and looking beautiful. Tom was looking like his usual gorgous self. Tom leaned in, smiled, and began to whisper something in her ear. "Miria..."

"Miria! Miria? MIRIA!!!!!!!!" Miria roused herself. She was so disapointed that she woke before Tom confessed his love for her. Suddenly her door burst open. "MIRIA!" Her best friend Roxette cried. "Geez, Miri, where WERE you yesterday?" Miria stirred in bed and pulled the kelp covers over her head. She had no idea what Roxette was talking about. Roxette stormed over to Miria`s bed, moving her tail back and forth so fast the water was frothing. She yanked the covers off Miria. "MIRI!" She spit out, her eyes blazing. "WHERE on earth WERE you last night? And after all the plans we made! If you were playing with that stupid pebble in the stupid air, watching the stupid sky again, I really won`t be your friend anymore!" Miria opened her blue eyes and slowly rolled over to look at Roxette, her solid build, her red-orange tail, her thick, wavy, brown-red hair flowing around her freckled face. "Rox," Miria said weakly. "What time is it?"
"Almost eleven. What have you been doing in bed?" Miria sat up and held her head. She felt groggy from a sleepless night. Roxette sensed her friends distress. "Miri, whats wrong?" She asked in a much gentler tone. Miria quickly made up a false excuse.
"Uh...I`m, uh, sick. Thats why I didnt go last night. Uh...bad flu." She coughed and lay back on her bed as proof. Roxette accepted that. "Why didnt you just say so? Go get better. I`ll go home." Roxette swam out the door. Miria sat up. "Rox?"
"Yeah?"
"umm..nothing. I`ll be better tomorrow." Lying to Roxette wasnt like lying to anyone else. Miria now felt more awful than before Roxette came over.
