My big thing so far: Graduating middle school! *in the second half of the year* And the new Camp Half Blood Series! Yes, it is supposed to start this year, but it'll probably continue in to 2012. I also think some big supernatural/paranormal *yes, I believe in all that stuff* thing is going to happen. I just don't know what. ;)

I can't answer this question. I believe the world will end, but no one knows... It could happen in two seconds, I don't know. If the world doesn't end in 2012 I guess something else big would happen.

To Brendan: 2012 is when some people think the world's gonna end, because of the Aincent Myan Calander ending in 2012. There are a lot of things that contribute to people thinking this, but I don't remember them at the moment.

I don't believe in that crap. The Mayans NEVER EVER predicted that the world was going to end. They just said that there was going to be a change. A CHANGE, NOT AN APOCALYPSE!!! But the stupidity of humaity kicked in and we all ran screaming thinking that we were all going to die.

Haha I would totally watch the movie in 2013! But I heard the movie isn't the greatest. I wonder what people will think of the mayans and the movie after 2012 passes and nothing happens. This has all happened before - people tell other people that the world is gonna end. They give them a date and maybe even a time - but it never happens. NEVER. No one can predict the future; I don't care if they say I'm gonna win a million dollars - I'll laugh, go home, fall asleep and forget about it by morning.

I heard they say that solar flairs come from the sun even though this happens eleven years,
it is also the world flips around on its axis, which it does reglarly too, and
when the Myan calender ends, or just needs to be reset did you ever think of that big shot scientists..
They thought the same thing in the 70's I think, but did it happen no I don't thinks so. Or we'd be dead.

People have freaked out about "apocalypses" all the time. We're still alive, right? Why should it happen THIS time??? Anyone hear about when everyone was freaking about about how earth was gonna pass through a star's tail and we were all gonna die laughing from breathing in laughing gas? Well, the plus is that gas mask sales rocketed. I hope the next "apocalypse" isn't that we'll all die by rick riordan obsession... if they burn all the percy jackson books, i WILL die!!

It's not gonna happen. Before there was the 2000 thing that people were afraid of... and it DIDN'T happen.
2012 simply marks the end of an era in the Mayan calendar. After that, A NEW ERA BEGINS. My friend did a project on this and he got all the same info I just told you from like 20 different websites.... SCIENTIFIC AND HISTORIC WEBSITES AND JOURNALS.
So there you go; an explanation :]

To be honest, I really doubt it.
Theres always been stuff like this in the human mind - since we believed in 'Big Sky Gods' and that killing some random sheep would make the crops grow (?)
A few months ago we were all supposed to burn in hell and christians be raised into heaven etc etc ; and although I'm an Atheist I don't remember burning in hell for all eternity - maybe I bumped my head!
What really irritates me is that stories of superstition and divine creatures were created to explain what our ancestors couldn't - Where did the earth come from? How did humans come to be? (Actually the Ancient Greeks had a rather lovely little story explaining this - well, apart from all the murder and incest.) But now we have science. Science gives us good reason to believe that the earth was created in the Big Bang and that humans exist because of evolution and natural selection - We no longer need the explanations our ancestors believed for centuries. But it will be hard to let go. Imagine it like this. When you were an infant you were wired up to a computer. This computer created for you a virtual world - but then one day someone switches it off! You yourself are the same. Your memories haven't changed - but the world you've lived in all your life never existed. You will never believe it completely.
Mythology is precious and we should keep the memory of it alive - but not look to it for answers to our past, neither, even worse, should we look to it to know our future! There is NO WAY to know for certain what our future holds - all we can do is use logic and hope for the best.

Why do people trust the Mayans with their lives? Maybe the Mayans ran out of time or paper so they stopped at 2012! Think about it!
I encourage people to believe whatever they would like to believe. Whether "the world came to be by a massive explosion" or "God put Adam on Earth and took a rib from him, making Eve".
But here's this:
We don't know what really happened! No one can truly prove anything. We may all have our theories, but no one knows the truth.
Maybe one day we'll all come into the know... but for now, we're missing the knowledge of A LOT of things.
So let's all just go drink hot chocolate with those adorable miny marshmallows and write! :3

But I remember reading an article and watching a couple of episodes of a show that says scientists predict another ice age coming over the entire Earth and then all the continents will be pushed together into one again.
But that will be in like millions of years :P
