Okay, okay, maybe I overreacted. But please don't say I "suck", okay. I honestly do mutually respect cats. They're cool animals. But I've pledged my heart to dogs, and as such I cannot "like"the other side. I'm a dog person; as such, I do hate cats, but only formally. Cats are great animals. They are smart, powerful, and pretty, just in a different way from what I see in dogs. Dogs will always be my first and formost animals. I've had bad experiences with cats. The only cat my family was ever owned by was a grumpy tabby who bit and scratched. I have known nasty dogs, but that only because of their breeding. With cats, you can never tell, so that's why I'm not so fond of them. Cats are still fairly wild, independent, and solitary, and that's why I think dogs are the only truly domesticated animals. Dogs have a fierce, strong loyalty that is as close to human as animals come. I'm not saying all animals should be stupid, man-worshipping domesticated zombies. All animals have unique traits that make them respectable, fascinating creatures. It's just that, as pets and companions, dogs are, well, top dog. Cats are unique animals that deserve the same respect as all others, but not for their companionship or loyalty. I think cat people like cats for their raw power and ferocity. That's not a bad thing. It's just not something that I, myself, am attracted to. I have some dog-like traits. I am especially loyal and protective towards my family. I am wary of strangers. My attachment to my "pack" makes it difficult for me to agree with anyone else. I think certain people have certain "doglike" or "catlike" traits that make them lean towards one of the two, or maybe some other animal. They don't necessarily hate any other group, they just stick to their own. I like doglike characters. All of my favorite characters have doglike traits. Sirius Black is loyal to Harry Potter and can turn into a dog. Professor Lupis is a werewolf. Mr. Canis is the Big Bad Wolf. Will Turner will do anything for his father and Elizabeth. The list goes on and on. I do not like the cold aloofness of cats and the fact that they are so solitary (which comes out as selfish to me). Some people like these traits. I don't blame them, but for me there isn't much to appreciate. I was rash and stubborn earlier. Please don't blame me. This is my unabashed opinion. Take it as you will.
